Experienced Dr Knows: Surgical abortion (or miscarriage) has stretching of the the cervix, the lowest part of the uterus, to remove the fetus. That stretching leaves bruising, tiny (less than 1/8" long) tears, bleeding, and even clots or tissue. An OB/GYN will definitely know SOMETHING went on with your cervix. If you are trying to hide your abortion from your doctor, ask yourself why. Your doctor needs to know. ...Read more

I have had a few people that are pregnant tell me their doctors recommend smoking due to possible miscarriage. Is this true?

Disclosure: When dealing with any difficulty, it is best to be honest and complete in giving health history. This way your doctor can help you best. If you are seeing a specialist to help you conceive, I would think it is important to disclose that you had two miscarriages ten years ago. This information helps paint a clear picture of how well your uterus is able to carry an embryo. Best of luck ...Read more

Its complicated.: With that many miscarriages you may be exhibiting antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. If this is the case every pregnancy is to be considered high risk and you should be followed during pregnancy, if possible, by a high risk neonatologist and a hematologist with experience in treating pregnant women with antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. ...Read more

How can a doctor tell you how long its been since you miscarried from a transvaginal ultrasound and can they be wrong if your not that far along

An: An ultrasound can detect if you are pregnant, if the fetus has a heartbeat (around 7 weeks) or if it does not have a heartbeat when it should (not a viable fetus), and if your cervix is open and a miscarriage is occuring. If you had a miscarriage and all the products of conception (fetal tissue) has passed there is no way to tell "how long it's been" since the loss occurred.
Lastly, an ultrasound may not provide all the clues if read incorrectly, therefore serial blood tests to check the level of pregnancy hormone in your body will tell you exactly where you stand (pregnant or not).
I am so sorry you are going through all of this. I wish you the very best. ...Read more

Miscarriage unlikely: A woman has to be pregnant first, in order to lose the pregnancy through miscarriage. Miscarriage is a natural end to many pregnancies (often because it is nature's way of selecting out abnormal embryos or fetuses, and trying to let only the normal ones continue on to birth). That means the pregnancy test would be positive if a miscarriage were to happen. ...Read more

After looking up symptoms, I miscarried, although I hadn't realized I was pregnant. Can a doctor tell whether or not I had been pregnant and miscarrie?

Miscarriage: A blood test can be done to see how high your HCG hormone levels were, which can give you an idea of how far along you were in the pregnancy. Serial blood tests will show the decrease in those levels. An ultrasound may show an empty sac. You should see a doctor for an evaluation to ensure that you do not have any retained tissue. Early miscarriage: Sometimes a period delay will then result in an early miscarriage at less than 6 weeks gestation. An ultrasound can detect if the uterus is empty or still has products of conception present. A definitive answer would only be possible at this early stage if you had saved any tissue that was passed and it was sent to the Pathologist for analysis. ...Read more

Best to see Dr. But: I don't know why you can't see a doctor.
Even if you are young you should be able to go to Planned Parenthood.
The safest choice is RU486 which is 95% effective within the first 50 days of pregnancy. Certain herbs can also be effective but should not be tried if more than 6 weeks since conception- see http://www. Sisterzeus. Com/Abortif. Htm
But I strongly urge you to see a doctor. ...Read more
