Unlikely, but...: Conceivably, an abscess in the pelvis can cause your symptoms, but very unlikely to be caused by a colonoscopy, more likely found by it. If: If your mother's bone scan of the hip did not show any signs of loosening of the hip implant, then I think it is unlikely that her pain is coming from the hip. I would be more concerned about her spinal stenosis. Narrowing of the spinal canal (stenosis) often causes numbness, tingling, and burning pain in the legs. These symptoms can often be relieved with an operation to decompress the pinched nerve roots. I think you should take your mother to an orthopaedic spine surgeon. If you can't find anyone close to home, consider pittsburgh, morgantown, or columbus. Be sure to bring all of her xrays and bone scans (images, not just the reports). Good luck. ...Read more

Hip 2 foot leg pain, sometimes foot turns ice cold. Broke knee cap years ago, not diabetic, not over weight. Cause for concern?
Go see a doctor: Pain that radiates from hip 2 toes is usually caused by a pathology above the hip. Your patella (knee cap) fracture, most likely, has nothing to do with this pain. Your back is a likely candidate, but your history of heart disease and the fact that your foot turns cold, makes me think of a vascular (arterial) cause for your pain. I would definitely recommend you see a doctor to begin a workup. ...Read more

Back and leg pain can be caused by disks, stenosis, slipping of the spine (spondylolithesis), foraminal stenosis, spine fractures, etc.
Most likely your right leg pain is from herniated l4-5 disk. Patients with disk herniations may benefit from giving time for the pain to settle, physical therapy, steroid injections and surgery. If the disk herniation did not respond to steroid injection then you should see a spine surgeon to discuss surgical options. There has been many advances in spine surgery and I would recommend looking into endoscopic spine surgery. Please see my health guide on lumbar disk herniations and sciatica.
Maximum Ibuprofen dose varies on your weight and medical conditions I recommend discussing this with your doctor.
