If, however, you have an overwhelming infection, it may affect your pregancy. Also, if you have lesions on the vaginal areas during birth, your doc may recommend c-section etc...

No kissing her until healed and frequently wash hands or use alcohol gel (like PurelĀ®), especially after touching your face. "Head in close proximity" probably is no risk.
