My boyfriend used Monistat n I used diflucan (fluconazole). He's uncircumcised. Do you know how I contracted another yeast infection?

Recurrent yeast: Vaginal yeasts are rarely acquired from other persons. Yeasts are normal in our intestines and often in the vagina. New yeast symptoms are not from a new infection, but because your own natural yeast has grown to increased numbers and/or the body is having an allergy-like reaction to it. If symptoms recur frequently, talk with your doc about preventing them with a diflucan (fluconazole) dose once a week. ...Read more

I have an expired mirena of almost a year... lately after having sex there is a pretty foul smell...I have already gone to the doctor to check for barterial or yeast infection and everything was fine. I am just wondering what else that could be caused by.

Sounds Just Yummy: Everything is fine? Not! You say you HAVE an expired Mirena (levonorgestrel)? Does that mean it's still in there? That could be part of the problem But even if it's not, a foul odor ain't natural. Also, how soon after sex is there an odor? Is it there all the time or goes away and comes back (excuse pun) after sex? If so, how soon after sex? You might want to get tested again & also have your boyfriend (s) tested. ...Read more

I had unprotected sex with a new partner. Couple days later had symptoms of a yeast infection but now I'm worried that it may be something else. Help!

Yeast? STD? Herpes?: You don't say exactly what symptoms you have. Maybe it's just what it feels like, a yeast infection. (It's not an STD, but symptoms may be triggered by having sex.) Herpes is the main STD cause of vulvar or labial irritation or itching. Gonorrhea or chlamydia less likely but possible. Don't screw around with this: see a doctor or clinic ASAP. Good luck! ...Read more

Can I get a yeast infection if my partner had sex with someone else and then had sex with me?

Can I get a yeast infection if my partner had sex with someone else and then had sex with me?

Not because of that: You can get a yeast infection because they are incredibly common but not for that reason; I don't consider yeast infections contagious because we all have yeast (candida albicans) already living on our skin, in our intestines and most women probably have a bit vaginally; whether it progresses to an infection has more to do with your diet, immune health, antibiotic use ; balance of other flora. ...Read more
