Can A Bone Spur In Your Neck Cause You To Pass Out
Bone is a living growing tissue made mostly of collagen (protein that provides soft framework) & the mineral calcium phosphate that adds strength & hardens the framework. Two types of bone are found in the body; cortical (dense compact outer layer) & trabecular (makes up inner layer, ...Read more
I have bone spurs in my neck, a friend told I should not take calcium as it would cause them to grow more?
I was told that I have a problem with my C5 disc in my neck. I now have problems with my right shoulder, bone spurs. Can this cause this?
No: Bone spurs in the shoulder are not caused by neck problems. Neck and shoulder problems overlap commonly in terms of the symptoms they produce.
My moms arm hurts when reaches out or makes backward motion makes it spasm and hurt really bad. She has bone spurs on her neck. What would cause this?
Rotator cuff: Problems with the rotator cuff/shoulder cause pain with motion of shoulder. Neck problems cause pain that radiates to and beyond shoulder. May also cause numbness in hand. Motions such as putting hand on head lessen pain when it's neck problem and increased pain when shoulder problem. Shoulder rxd high dose ibuprofen, range of motion exercises. Injection if symptoms don't improve one month.
What can I do about pain from bone spurs in neck causes my right shoulder to hurt and tingling and nunmness in hand?
Bone spurs: See your neurologist or orthopedist for the best answer and treatment options. Good luck.
Unknown cause of pain in back of neck had Xray years ago showed flattened vertebrae and possible bone spurs. Can I get more insight 2 this cause?
Flattened vertebra: Are usually due to compression fractures. If there has been no trauma, other etiologies of low bone mineralization that could lead to weaker bones and thus spontaneous or insufficiency fractures should be explored.
Bone spurs in my neck, a couple bulging discs and mild spinal stenosis in my lumbar. Could this cause a pinched nerve?
I was dx'd w/SLE years ago. Today my Dr. Called & told me X-rays show bone spurs in my neck. I'm getting an MRI 7/29. Could Lupus have caused this?
Unrelated: Bone spurs in the spine are quite common. I don't feel there is a connection to lupus. They are generally a chronic wear and tear phenomenon.
I've been lifting heavy weights and I've been told I have a bone spur in my neck could this be the cause of throbbing in my ear.
Possibly: Spurs in the neck may produce problems related to pressure on the spine and associated nerves & blood vessels. In some people, this pain may be referred—that is, perceived as occurring in the head, shoulders, or chest, rather than the neck. Other symptoms may include vertigo (a type of dizziness) or ringing in the ears. Therefore, you should see an ENT for the ear symptoms & your Spine Specialist againSee 2 more doctor answers
What causes pain above eye, sharp pain going up back of head and neck pain and occasionally facial irritation, had cervical MRI deg disc dis bone spur?
Neck vs Head: This could be occipital neuralgia where the pain originates from the occipital nerves in the back of the head and travel over the top to right above the eye. The other option would be that this could be coming from your neck due to the high cervical facets at c2/3 and c3/4. The nerves exiting this area can wrap around back of head and attach to the same place as occipital nerves.
4yrs ago mri=moderate cervical spine stenosis with complex bone spurs. If worse now, could it cause balance problems and walking difficulties? 46 y/old
Cervical stenosis: Cervical spinal stenosis or narrowing of the spinal canal in the neck can cause imbalance and dizziness. Difficulty walking and unrinary retention can occur when there is compression of the spinal cord. It is important to obtain an updated MRI of the neck to determine if the stenosis or narrowing has progressed over the past four years.
Cerv spondy: Arthritis equates to bone spurs. In the absence of pinched nerve pain, no surgical treatment is necessary. Pt alone is likely sufficient. However, if you are asking about surgical options, depends on where nerve pinched. Options include foraminotomy posteriorly or anterior diskectomy and fusion. Both have merits and cons that should be discussed with your surgeon. Disk replacement not for spurs.
Possible: Many times conservative care can include chiropractic care. If you are not better soon (less than 10-15 treatments), then consider other options like a spine fellowship trained pain specialist.See 1 more doctor answer
Unlikely: Your question is confusing. Intravenous contrast usually does not help in evaluating bone spurs.
I have DDD and 2 levels in my neck fused because of herniation and bone spurs in the past 3 years. I have been having shoulder blade pain. Related?
Have persistent cervicogenic headaches. Dx with bone spurs c2-c5. Wearing neck brace for 2-3 hrs/day for relief. Is this ok? Prefer to avoid meds.
Tension headaches?: Cervical bone spurs do not cause pain in and of themselves. Many patients with spurs don't have any symptoms. There is little to no correlation, for the most part, between cervical x-ray findings and the presence or absence of symptoms. It's quite likely that your headaches may be from another cause, such as tension or stress headaches. See http://bit. Ly/1v0GgZh http://bit. Ly/1t1LbhG
Unclear: Numbness in hand from middle to pinky suggests ulnar nerve impingement. If bone spurs were related pattern would usually be different from this. However, a C8 root syndrome might produce this pattern. Try to draw a line around the area of numbness (including all parts that are numb - hand and arm). Show to doctor. EMG/NCV study could be helpful.See 3 more doctor answers
