Girl friend has cyst on her ovaries. I believe it burst cause she had vaginal bleeding. Scared I want her to go to er. Had sex today. Area sore. Help?
Not from cyst: Ovarian cysts come and go and some do rupture. Any associated bleeding never makes it into the vagina, but settles out within the abdomen. If she has vaginal bleeding and its character is that of menstrual flow, that is a likely source. If she is hurting, an evaluation is a good idea. Backing off on the sex is wise until you sort this out. ...Read more

I believe I have a follicular cyst (have had them in the past), as well as slight vaginal bleeding. Wondering if I should "watch and wait" it out.?
See a GYN MD: The size and composition of your presumptive "follicular cyst" is tantamount to deciding whether a decision to "watch and wait" or act is appropriate. Moreover, you are bleeding vaginally and the source is "unknown". Have a GYN MD exam you and clear up the above questions first, and then an intelligent decision, in concert with the GYN MD's advice, can be made based upon facts. ...Read more

Asymptomatic cysts in patients under age 40 may not require treatment, however, there are a number of vulvar + vaginal lesions that can mimic a cyst / abscess. Does Bartholin cyst just go away in time?? Does abscesses go away in time?? Can I put it cold compress??
Warm compresses: Warm compresses are better than cold to help the cyst drain. Bartholin's gland cysts sometimes go away on their own but sometimes they have to be surgically drained and packed in order to heal up. Any abscess that does not drain fully may need to be surgically opened and drained to resolve. If it is not resolving with warm soaks and compresses see a doctor. ...Read more
