If I am allergic to chamomile should I stay away from dandelion root products?

Probably not.: The usual source of chamomile tea, ointments or infusions is from dried flowers and petals. The dandelion is the root. Is it ok to drink dandelion root tea while on Prozac (fluoxetine) 40mg/day? Are there any interactions? Thanks

Is it ok to drink dandelion root tea while on Prozac (fluoxetine) 40mg/day? Are there any interactions? Thanks

Not much interaction: The extract of taraxicum officinale root in rodent studies is shown to be an inhibitor of the cytochrome p450 1a2 enzyme, and this is distinct from the 2d6 enzyme that fluoxetine inhibits. This would imply that the consuming dandelion root extract would not markedly change the metabolism of fluoxetine although it may slow down the metabolism of fluoxetine very slightly because 1a2 may contribute. ...Read more

I drank a cup of Dandelion leaf and root tea and I had pain on/off for two days, dull pain around belly and sides. Should I not drink it again?

See answer: Dandelion has been used for various digestive problems and also as a diuretic. It has also been consumed as a food.
