Better not: It's only 4 hours apart, and the regular dose is every 24 hours, more than that should be directed by a physician. For your cold symptoms you can try decongestants, if not contraindicated as if having high blood pressure, and pain killers as acetaminophen, in addition to rest fluids, salt water gargles and saline nasal washes, if no improvement, see your doctor, good luck ...Read more

All day today I feel hot, then cold, then hot, then cold and so on. What would do this? The only thing I did different today was take Claritin (loratadine) d.

Virus vs side effect: Time will tell. Infection, side effect or menopause; but most likely would be viral infection. Chills would be an unusual side effect for Claritin (loratadine) d, but if you aren't sick, just don't take any more Claritin (loratadine) d and see if it goes away. After a few days, you could take one again and see if it recurs. That's how to figure out if it is a side effect when the symptoms are not dangerous. ...Read more

Cold: Claritin (loratadine) will only relieve symptoms due to allergy not a viral cold. There are OTC medications for cold-related symptoms. Since you have not mentioned any of your symptoms from which you seek relief, Its not possible to make specific recommendation. Is it ok to take Claritin (loratadine) 24hr and then Theraflu nighttime severe cough and cold a few hrs later before bed?

Is it ok to take Claritin (loratadine) 24hr and then Theraflu nighttime severe cough and cold a few hrs later before bed?

Flu: Yes. BUT please remember that if you do not feel better after 2-3 days, then a visit to your primary doctor is advised. Assuming you have the flu virus, then take those meds, some Tylenol (acetaminophen) for fever and lots of liquid (juice, soup, water). If your cough and other symptoms persist, as I mentioned, schedule a doctor appointment. I do not think the cortisone is a factor at this point. Best wishes ...Read more

Is it allergies or is it a cold? I can never tell, so is it ok to take Claritin (loratadine) whenever my nose runs?

Is it allergies or is it a cold? I can never tell, so is it ok to take Claritin (loratadine) whenever my nose runs?

Allergy vs. "colds": Allergic reactions are more likely to involve itching, especially in the eyes. Itchy watery eyes in combination with nasal congestion or "runny" nose is likely to be caused by an allergy. Tracking pollen counts may be useful for observing possible cause and effect relationships with allergy symtoms. If a fever or body aches is present with nasal symptoms think 'not allergy". ...Read more

No, but...: If someone needs medicine like that for long periods of time, it is best to get at the root cause and find out what he is allergic to. Then you can eliminate or reduce the exposure to the problem instead of medicating the child. Get a referral to a good allergist from your pediatrician of family doc or even word of mouth and solve the problem. ...Read more

Azithromycin, Claritin (loratadine) d, and Advil cold and sinus- is it dangerous to take all these at once?

Azithromycin, Claritin (loratadine) d, and Advil cold and sinus- is it dangerous to take all these at once?

Decongestant: I don't know what are in Advil cold but suspect that it contains a decongestant such as pseudoephedrine. Pseudoephe: Insomnia is a common side effect from pseudoephedrine and I have not recommended it use for at least a decade. Be sure to aim the Flonase towards the sides of the nose and not in the center and see if this works better. If not, time to see a doctor to see if you may have a sinus infection. ...Read more

Yes: There are no interactions between Tylenol &Claritin D. The Tylenol should relieve your headache. The Claritin-D should improve your congestion and cold / allergy symptoms.
