Can non-typhoid salmonella poisoning cross the placenta?

Can 16s sequencing of my intestinal bacteria identify any/all of following infections: h. Pylori, c. Jejuni, toxoplasma gondii?

Can 16s sequencing of my intestinal bacteria identify any/all of following infections: h. Pylori, c. Jejuni, toxoplasma gondii?

Yes but...: Dna sequencing can identify most of the bacteria and also the % of those present. What you are going to use this for is perhaps the most important question and where are they located? I would check with your physician, find out what testing facility they are using and how extensive is the test. Some of the test only look for a few of the bacteria and don't measure them all. ...Read more

Can malaria infect by unborn child?

Can malaria infect by unborn child?

Yes but low risk: The rate of infection during pregnancy depends on many factors, but remains low. It is about 1% in moms who have developed anti-malaria antibodies and about 10% in those that have not. However, i would be more concerned about the health of the baby as the parasite may pack the placenta and reduce oxygen delivered to the baby. Seek care from a ob/gyn who has experience with high risk pregnancies. ...Read more

Had fetus with cystic hygroma, but normal karyotype, it was aborted, but I've cmv igm0.92 cmv igg378, was it related to the fetus condiditon??what 2do?

Primary CMV infectn: You only test positive for CMV IgM when you have had a recent primary infection. You then have livelong immunity provided by CMV IgG. The timeframe needs to be checked by someone with expertise, but evidence of positive IgM means that you had a primary infection in pregnancy, which may have devastating effects on the fetus. You will not be at risk in future pregnancies because of immunity. ...Read more

Lmp 8/7/15. US 9/23 showed 6w6d fetal pole (9mm), 7w3d GS (21 mm), no HB detected. Dr. said I miscarried. Too soon to assume definite fetal demise?

Miscarriage: Unfortunately, there are several different criteria for diagnosing a miscarriage, and one of them is a fetal pole measuring more than 7 mm without a heartbeat.
