My daughter is 8 years old and a month ago she had strep she finished her course of Abx for seven days. Friday she came home school with another fever?
Fever after strep:
7 d of antibiotics ought to have treated strep successfully. The new fever is most likely a viral illness and I would treat with Ibuprofen and fluids, observe for
persistent fever x 3 d and sore throat returning. If so,
see MD for another culture of throat. Welcome to Healthtap, Dr. Ivy Fisher ...Read more

Last monday my daughter Nadia came home from school complaining of ankle pain. She said it hurts to walk. I tried R.I.C.E for a week and it got worse.
My 9 year old grandson ran a high fever for a few days last week with no other symptoms other than no appetite. Tylenol reduces the fever and it went away after a couple of days. He came home from school yesterday with 101 fever that quickly went away.
Time to see doc: For fevers over 100-101 that last more than 4 or 5 days, I strongly recommend seeing his doc. Usually, the fevers with uncomplicated viral illnesses like colds go away within 3-4 days, so the fact that he had high fevers last week and now this week is more concerning. ...Read more

My 5yr old came home from school throwing up he is not using the bathroom but he has sick smelling gas no real appetite the vomiting has stop still ga?
For vomiting, you: Need to let his stomach rest, by not giving any food or fluids for at least 2 hours after vomiting. Then you can give him sips of fluids (Pedialyte/gatorade)or licks of popsicles. Once he keeps that down, you can give a little more, then eventually small amounts of bland food. You want to make sure he is urinating (not dehydrated)and the vomiting doesn't start over with too much intake too fast. ...Read more

My 11 year old son has costant nose bleeds, what can be causing them? He has them at least 4 times a week it seems and he just had one when he went to wash his hands after he came home from school. I asked him what happened because he came out of the bath
Hello.: Hello. I don't know the cause of your son's nose bleeds. It is pretty normal for children to pick their nose. This can cause minor trauma with subsequent nose bleeds. Sometimes there is small blood vessel in the nose that is exposed and friable, the pressure from blowing the nose could cause it to bleed. Children can also place objects in their nares (my brother had a thing for placing minature army soldiers up his nose when he was little). Dry air (like the type on airplane flights) can dry out the mucosa in the nose which makes it more friable. Allergies and upper respiratory infections can be a cause. If the child has problems with clotting blood or a blood disorder (leukemia) that can be an issue. Use of certain medications can also be a cause. Because you son has nose bleeds so often, I do recommend that it be evaluated as often the fix can be quite simple. Take care. ...Read more

Some Ideas: First, buy healthy snacks that are as easy to grab as the bad ones. If you are truly hungry, eat those snacks. If you are eating because you are bored or it is habit, find another activity to replace it with - maybe take a short walk or do some housework when you first get home. I know I do best when I resist the urge to just sit down when I first get home and just keep moving! ...Read more

Bullying happens in school, the work place, home, kids etc. Is there a mental health diagnosis for why people bully others?
Nonspecific: Bullying can be a final common pathway of behavior for a wide variety of reasons. There is no specific psychiatric diagnosis that matches bullying. Certainly things in such a person's history -- like being mistreated or abused at home -- may be a factor. But it's not an excuse, and bullying must be stopped. If the bully has been through trauma, s/he needs help as well as firm limit-setting. ...Read more

I think about a certain thing while at work, school etc I get out of the mood and just want to go home and think about that certain thing. What's wrong?

I get headaches really fast in any place home school car how do I stop them? Sometimes pills don't help
There's no one size fits all answer for most headaches. It depends on many factors including type, frequency, duration, other symptoms, medical history, etc. Best to speak with a physician who specializes in headaches such as a neurologist. In the meantime, focus on general health principles: adequate sleep (8-9 hrs for your age), good diet, regular exercise, and good hydration (water).
