Orthotic 4 overpron+bun use 2 wear aa shoe age+bunin med now.Heel back of heel ankle still slim use gel heeliner in all shoes even if think shoe fits?

Overkill: No, although the orthotic can address overpronation, no need for an extra heeliner. This will make the shoe too tight and uncomfortable and may actually exacerbate the bunion pain. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Are Hoka shoes good for metatarsalgia?

Are Hoka shoes good for metatarsalgia?

Shoes are just shoes: Shoe therapy is only marginal treatment. Metatarsalgia is a vague term that could be any one or several different problems, therefore, you must find out which specific problem you have not just that general term. Then if the problem can be solved with just padding the shoes can be used. ...Read more

For 'runners knee' which running shoe would u recommend - Asics Gel Enhance Ultra 3 Running Shoe or Brooks Womens Adrenaline GTS 15 Running Shoe?

For 'runners knee' which running shoe would u recommend - Asics Gel Enhance Ultra 3 Running Shoe or Brooks Womens Adrenaline GTS 15 Running Shoe?

Not just Shoes...: Either shoe will do, but shoes are not the end all treatment for runners knee. There are many more things to consider before fixating on the shoe type. More important is whether you had, presently have or are in a preventive mode for the treatment of the problem. I suggest you seek out a sports medicine ortho specialist to do a proper evaluation and subsequent treatment and exercise protocol. ...Read more

Are new sketcher's training shoes just as dangerous as wearing high heels or platforms?

Are new sketcher's training shoes just as dangerous as wearing high heels or platforms?

No: Running with scissors is dangerous. Running in skechers is not. High heels and platforms are only "dangerous" in pregnancy if you fall or twist your ankle. Most people are not comfortable in them later in pregnancy, but they can't cause any real harm to moms or babies. If you are comfortable in them, go ahead and wear whatever you like. Comfort and fit are the most important features. ...Read more

Could good sole inserts replace good running shoes?

What's better for the foot? Sneakers, sandals, running shoes?

What's better for the foot? Sneakers, sandals, running shoes?

All can be fine: This is hard to answer. It depends on the quality of the shoe, how well it fits the shape of your foot and, most importantly, how well it feels. As a rule, the thicker the sole, the stiffer the shoe, the better the support, the better the shoe is for you. It does mean that other shoes are bad. Using generalities, my best answer to your question, would be a good running shoe. Dr l. ...Read more

Podiatrist Question I wear orthotic 4 overpronation/ff Wear RUNNING athletic sneakers just 4 walking. Too much CUSHIONING? Better a regular shoe

Don't worry: Shop for shoes late in the day Find a shoe where the widest point of the shoe is at the widest part of the foot. Leave one thumb press of space between big toe and the toe box of the shoe. Place a wad of lamb's wool in to the distal toe of shoe Place a 1/2 inch heel lift under the shoe liner. Sorry I don't know the metrics You can try this but if you still need more support, try orthotic ...Read more

Wear 1/2 orthotics and remove insoles of shoes, so big toe that stix up won't hurt. Must wear some cushioning at toes to prevent shocks to knee?

Wear 1/2 orthotics and remove insoles of shoes, so big toe that stix up won't hurt. Must wear some cushioning at toes to prevent shocks to knee?

Metatarsal Cushion: Some of our patients need that extra room in their shoes because the big toe sticks up too much. Try a spenco insert for that extra cushion but cut out the area under the toes to give them more room. You can also try to add a hapad metatarsal support to the end of the orthotic device to attempt to take pressure off the metatarsals. www.hapad.com (get small adhesive met pads) dr rich blake. ...Read more
