Hi! My heartrate goes up to 135 when climbing stairs and then drops down to 55 (slow for me) when I sit down or lay down within 2 mins. Is it normal?

Tachycardia: Unless you're running up the stairs, that is a rather fast heart rate after stair climbing.Do you note rapid heart rates after other activities? Do you get short of breath also? I feel that you should have a heart and lung examination and also be checked for anemia and even an overactive thyroid although your heart rate at rest is not elevated which may rule out hyperthyroidism. ...Read more

Does your body start to shut down after 30 hours of no sleep and you eventually pass out?

No: I would venture to guess most docs here routinely went 30+ hours awake while in residency. You certainly lose your focus and are fatigued, but 30 hours awake is not too shocking to your body. ...Read more

Sometimes at night I will feel nervous and my heart will start beating up to 130bpm, and slow down gradually in 5 to 10 minutes. Is this SVT?

If the nervousness: occurs BEFORE the rapid heart beat my bet would be on SINUS TACHYCARDIA (normal response of the cardiovascular system to anxiety) rather than SVT (an "arrythmia" abnomal rythm,") ...Read more

Dizzyspell on getting up AM from lying to sitting on bed Take Bisoprolol 2.5mg in evening .Next day checked BP lying down 110/56 sitting 122/66 ideas?

The Bisoprolol could: easily contribute to positional blood pressure changes that make you dizzy. There was probably a change in your hydration status between the first day and the second when you had normal BP and were not dizzy. The first day you were probably a little dehydrated. Maintain good hydration and you should in general be asymptomatic. ...Read more

Bed rest for 2 months & just now starting to sit up. How long should I try to sit up? Kind of hard sitting up feeling wobbly and tipsy lol.

2 months is a long: time to be at bedrest. Sitting in bed would be the best, so if you feel tipsy, you can fall back asleep. You don't want to decondition yourself by resting in bed too much. It will not build muscle or strength (energy). So, simple stretches in bed is best while lying. When sitting simple stretching exercises will build upper torso strength.Chair yoga is safe, and you can get CD.Start slow & build up! ...Read more

Trouble breathing while laying down and dizziness. Once sitting up it begins to feel better but continue wheezing and feeling dizzy for an hour after?

Asthma: Sounds an awful lot like asthma to me - often there is dust or bed mites, or other foreign proteins in bedroom air that triggers an attack. You should carefully wash all your bed linens, bed clothes, but also dust, remove old reading materials, wash your drapes, vacuum under the bed etc. Don't use scented cleaner. An inhaler medication may be indicated, best obtained from your family doc. ...Read more

Sitting down earlier and when I lay down to go to sleep sometimes pulse reads 41bpm with palpitations.upon standing raises to 60-70 bpm.Problem?

No worry: Our heart rates usually slow down when we rest and increase with activity. If your heart rate is slow and you feel dizzy or ill, some intervention may be required. However, as in your case, if your heart rate returns to normal on rising or with activity, that's OK. ...Read more

Ocular Migraine?: This could be an ocular migraine which occurs in the visual processing centers of the brain and results in classic zig zag lines or prismatic colors. Persistent : Persistent bedwetting can be normal in children up to the age of 6 years. After that point, further evaluation is generally recommended to evaluate for a structural or neurologic cause. Otherwise, outside of a cause, it is important not to treat this as a punishable behavioral issue as that will tend to exacerbate the issue. Often times his doctor may recommend a trial of medication to help improve his bladder capacity or decrease urine production overnight. One additional strategy that has at times been successful is the use of a "potty pager" which will vibrate at the first sign of moisture, thus conditioning the child to awaken to the need to void. ...Read more
