Walking on the outside of the foot (often to avoid pain on the inside of the foot or heel) can lead to this condition as can a bad ankle sprain. ...Read more

Do I have tendonitis if my leg calf and ankle swells and hurts during any walking or workout that invloves running or up-hill excersises?

Quite possible.: If no history of injury like a sprain, tendonitis, an overuse syndrome could be the cause. Need to try rest, elevation, compression bandage, and icing it. How can I get rid of tendonitis in my leg? Or at least make it feel better.

Diagnosis first!: Tendonitis is a non-specific term that is applied to many areas of pain, though it is often not the correct diagnosis. See a sports med doc to be sure. True tendonitis (inflammation of a tendon) improves with rest, ice, and fixing the contributing mechanical factors. Degenerative changes in tendon (cause pain after the inflammation has subsided)=tendonosis. Treat with eccentric strengthening in pt. ...Read more

Got patella tendonitis and bought patella strap for leg....What is recommended miles per week to run...Is 8mpw a good start and build up from there?

Start with PT: For tendinitis, anti-inflammatory medicines will help with the pain. But the real treatment is to stretch and strengthen the tendon. This is best done with formal physical therapy. Also, sometimes hip muscle weakness can contribute to knee tendinitis. Activity like running is generally ok as long as the pain is minimal. Start slow and build slowly. ...Read more
