What is peroneal tendonitis? And what causes it? Can you get it from overuse without an acute injury? Back and outside ofankle and even calf nerve hurt
Overuse/Compensation: Peroneal tendonitis is an inflammation of the tendon and tendon sheath complex of the peroneus longus and brevis tendons. These tendons arise from muscles in the outside of the lower leg and course behind the fibula (ankle bone on outside of ankle). Walking on the outside of the foot (often to avoid pain on the inside of the foot or heel) can lead to this condition as can a bad ankle sprain. ...Read more
Will tendonitis affect the recovery time from a calf augmentation? Should I be concerned about my tendonitis getting worse after a calf augmentation which I'm having to help with the appearance of my bow legs?
Tendonitis: I think that there is a very good chance that the tendonitis in your legs will get worse with calf augmentation. You might want to consider fat transfer to your calves instead. That should not have any negative effect on your tendonitis. ...Read more

You are having plastic surgery on the soft tissues of your leg for a bony deformity?
That totally blows me away! You have "tendinosis" where? See an orthopedist before you get any surgery done. Don't jump into a plastic surgery of your leg for looks. ...Read more
A week before I had any swelling from peroneal tendonitis I had nerve pain from my ankle up into my calf. Does this make any sense?
Do I have tendonitis if my leg calf and ankle swells and hurts during any walking or workout that invloves running or up-hill excersises?
Quite possible.: If no history of injury like a sprain, tendonitis, an overuse syndrome could be the cause. Need to try rest, elevation, compression bandage, and icing it. Perhaps an orthopedic specialist or sports medicine specialist can let your know if you need orthotics or procedures such as for tarsal tunnel. Make sure you change sports shoes because they wear down. A change in shoes can make a big difference ...Read more
Ultrasound of veins: It is sometimes very difficult to distinguish between DVT and calf muscular pain simply by physical findings or history. The definitive diagnostic test is a venous duplex ultrasound which will show the veins behind the knee (popliteal) to see if there is a clot. ...Read more
I hurt my knee a week ago playing sports and I think it is just tendonitis and my ACL and MCL were already ruled out now my calf and ankle are swollen?
It might just be: Tendonitis, but since you mention a swollen calf a clot must be ruled out. That would be considered a medical emergency and this should be evaluated immediately. Hopefully, it is just tendonitis, but you must err on the side of caution. ...Read more
Hard to say: There are many potential causes of leg pain, and certainly tendonitis can be a cause. If the pain is along a tendon sheath and it is swollen and tender, then it is probably the cause. An exam can usually detect the cause. Thank you for the question. ...Read more
Diagnosis first!: Tendonitis is a non-specific term that is applied to many areas of pain, though it is often not the correct diagnosis. See a sports med doc to be sure. True tendonitis (inflammation of a tendon) improves with rest, ice, and fixing the contributing mechanical factors. Degenerative changes in tendon (cause pain after the inflammation has subsided)=tendonosis. Treat with eccentric strengthening in pt. ...Read more
Got patella tendonitis and bought patella strap for leg....What is recommended miles per week to run...Is 8mpw a good start and build up from there?
Start with PT: For tendinitis, anti-inflammatory medicines will help with the pain. But the real treatment is to stretch and strengthen the tendon. This is best done with formal physical therapy. Also, sometimes hip muscle weakness can contribute to knee tendinitis. Activity like running is generally ok as long as the pain is minimal. Start slow and build slowly. ...Read more

Recent: knee tendonitis. I already have patella femoral syndrome in both of my knees. How long should I put partial weight on my leg using crutches?
Ankle smankle: You need to describe the location of the ankle tendonitis. Is it front, back, inside, outside painful to stand or move? What was done to confirm the diagnosis of tendonitis. If you are continuing to use the ankle is that motion now causing compensatory swelling? Or is something else really going on? A lot to think about but it will make your problem easier to solve. ...Read more
