Calf Pain That Occurs At Night Or While Resting
I have been getting some intermittent leg/calf pain at night while at rest for 4 days I am 17 years old and I am wondering. If this is life threatenin?
Not if intermittent: If pain is present mainly during rest at night, it sounds like muscle fatigue which could be related to a change in exercise or training or dehydration. If pain is reduced with stretches and walking, it should resolve soon. See a doctor if pain is progressiive or your calf is swollen or discolored. ...Read more

2 days I have small calf pain. No pain when resting. Pain only when walking and touching calf...wat I do?
The fact that it is: Tender--painful to touch--is concerning, even though there is, apparently, no pain at rest. It would be even more concerning if there were some swelling or redness. There may have been some trauma with a deep bruise and no discoloration, but you can't take the chance of missing a blood clot. You need to be examined and checked for DVT/deep vein thrombosis. Go to your Doctor or Urgent Care now. ...Read more
Left calf pain about 1 week. Sudden onset and not better w/rest, heat, ice, or massage. No recent surgery or strenuous activity. What could this be?
Be seen: There are multiple possibilities, many of which are quite benign; but when you talk about the sudden, a traumatic onset of calf pain you always need to consider the possibility of a blood clot which is potentially life threatening and so I would encourage you to be seen to have this ruled out. ...Read more

Is calf pain, without other symptoms, in a 32 year old who hasn't been exercising or had any injury worrisome? I had 2 days bed rest for migraine.
Possibly: If there is pain in the calf without much physical exertion to worry about then, one thing to think of would be a blood clot or deep venous thrombosis (DVT). This would be especially true if the patient also has swelling, redness, tightness, and warmth to the touch. You should see someone right away if any of this is true...possibly even an ER. I'm having a mild stabbing calf pain that comes and goes and last a seconds when sitting or lying down. What could be the cause?
What are some of the most common reasons for calf pain? I don't remember injuring myself but my calf has been really hurting for days.
Don't equivocate.: Calf pain is a concern because of the possibility of a potential blood clot in the deep veins in the calf area. A failure to recognize or treat it quickly could be disastrous. Having said that, the potential seriousness necessitates that you have it evaluated and quickly. If the calf is free of phlebitis and/or clot, then you can move on to other non life threatening conditions. ...Read more
Can lower calf pain be caused by a back problem? I am having back troubles, but also having calf pain was wondering if the two were related.
Possibly: Yes, it's possible that they are related. For example a "pinched nerve" in the lower back can cause pain in the leg. This is called radiculopathy. There are other possibilities, including that the two areas of pain are unrelated. Only an exam and perhaps MRI can tell YOU what YOUR problem is. ...Read more
