Could be a spasthism: Muscle spasm as well as possible varicose vein are alleviated by taking anti-inflammatory medications and possibly using a warm moist wrap for 1-2 hours at a time.
However, the best option for unremitting pain and swelling is to see your physician to rule out a blood clot in your deep leg veins/ dvt, as it could be a serious issue. ...Read more

Calf discomfort: One possibility is congestion in the calf veins which builds up during the day's activity on your feet. Elevating the leg should relieve that discomfort, however. Irritability of calf nerves or muscles may be a cause. A blood clot in a calf vein usually is accompanied by swelling and tenderness. It's best to have a physician examine your leg and, if deemed advisable, get an ultrasound of the veins ...Read more

Trying to induce muscle release while sleeping. Is there a tool that can "clamp" say a tight calf spot during sleep to cause release?

Sounds like cramp: I gather that your calf muscle contracts and cramps in the night. You may be lacking in magnesium. Try soaking in a warm bath with a hadful of epsom salts in the water. This will provide magnesium that will go through the skin and get into the blood stream. ...Read more

My calf muscles tighten to the point I can't hardly move whenever I walk a long distance. What's wrong and what can I do to fix this?

My calf muscles tighten to the point I can't hardly move whenever I walk a long distance. What's wrong and what can I do to fix this?

Lactic acid: Lactic acid is likely building up in your muscles, causing the muscle spasm and tightening. This occurs when you start to burn substances other than glucose during activity. With a long walk, you may not have enough water on board to burn glucose, or you may not have enough energy in the form of carbohydrates to supply your system with enough glucose so eat fruit as you walk and drink lots of water. ...Read more

I have prom tonight and I still have a not in my calf muscle and it hurts to walk. I've been stretching it out but it just tightens back up. Help?

See a doctor: The knot in your calf should be examined by a doctor. In the meantime, stop stretching as it's not helping at this point. Most likely you have a tear in your calf muscle, which would need some time to heal. But there are other possibilities such as blood clots. If the pain is severe, skip the prom and go see a doctor today. While waiting to be seen, rest, keep your leg elevated, and ice it. ...Read more

Could be the back?: My first thought would be a back issue, or a lumbar spine issue to be more specific. The calf tightness could come from nerve compression. Could be a herniated disc, or perhaps spinal stenosis. You should look into this formally. ...Read more
