Sore calves: On recent medicine like cipro/ levaquin (levofloxacin) that causes achilles tendonitis? Recent increase in exercise? Consider achilles tendonitis, gastrocnemius Baker's cyst , electrolyte deficiency especially if you run and drink only water and do not alternate water with electrolyte solutiion like gatorade/ pedialyte, rarely rupture, clot, hematoma. No: Working out rigorously rarely causes damage or tear. You are probably experiencing post exercise soreness (which makes it difficult to walk because the muscle is shortened and full of inflammatory chemicals from going beyond the aerobic capacity of the calf muscle). Apply heat, massage the muscle, stretch it gently, and walk more slowly until the length comes back. It will take 2 days to pass. ...Read more

Maybe: This sounds like some sort of nerve impingement(pinched nerve.) this may have been caused by a calf injury. I think you need to see your doctor quickly to get an early jump on this. They will also rule out the possiblity of a blood clot to your calf. ...Read more

Calf pain: Do you stretch before and after? You may have muscle strain or possible circulation issue. Try warm compress after running and massage to get more blood to area. If non of these work see dr. May be low in potassium. ...Read more
