Is it normal for your calf muscle not to be able to contract after achillies surgery.

Is it normal for your calf muscle not to be able to contract after achillies surgery.

Depends on time: The clf muscles atrophy after achilles tendon surgery depending on the type of problem it had to start and the type of surgery as well as the amount of immobilization. Exam would be best: Did they literally just appear after your surgery? And what do you mean by similar lump after muscle? At another time/surgery? Are they around the incision sites? It's possible they are scars depending on how they performed the surgery. If they are painful, growing, and skin around them is becoming more red, you should probably have it looked at by your doc to rule out infection. Read more

I had an ACL surgery in 2008.I still have irregular pain in the muscle between calf and shin. Xray reports are normal. What could be the cause?

Quad weakness: The most common source of pain and "instability" after acl reconstruction is from weakness in the quad muscles (acl failure is possible but actually less common). If the muscles have not returned to normal function, you will continue to limp and walk with a straight knee (quad avoidance). This further weakens the quad and harms the hamstrings and calf, causing pain, burning, and giving way. Read more
