Calcium Carbonate With Magnesium Overdose
Could intake of calcium carbonate with magnesium and vitamin d, american ginseng, and gingko biloba at once impair the absorption of one another?
Don't waste your $: G. biloba failed clinical trials. Ineffective. Ginseng is 1 of those bogus "ancient wisdom" things. Its use is based on a SUPERSTITION called the "doctrine of signatures:" because the root looks like a headless man, the prescientific ancients had this delusion that it would cure things. It doesn't. Be skeptical. Think critically. Arm yourself with modern knowledge, not ancient superstition. ...Read more
Combination therapy: There is no adverse effect taking Tecta (T) with calcium carbonate (C). T eliminates the stomach's ability to secrete acid and its use should eliminate most pain from either GERD, gastritis or peptic ulcer disease. If you are taking C for heart burn relief, say a gastroenterologist to make sure you have nothing else wrong with your upper GI tract. Good luck. ...Read more
I'm currently taking nitrofurantoin. It says not to take antacids with magnesium trisilicate. Can I take Tums (calcium carbonate) which contain magnesium stearate?
Can't take calcium carbonate for acid stomach because of allergies. Is there a magnesium alternative?
Post Whipple so must take antacids and enzymes. guidance says avoid calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide antacids. Any alternatives please?
Alternatives: The problem is most antacids are from the 2 chemicals but you can use Gaviscon which is a little different and so could be used without over use. However I do not know if you can use meds or are on the H2 receptor blockers (Zantac, Pepcid, (famotidine) Axid) These can help with the heartburn as well. You can try these and see. I hope it is some help but depends on your provider. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

How much magnesium glycinate should I take against 600mg of elemental calcium (carbonate) and 400iu vitamin D3 for osteoporosis?
About 400- 600 mg: There is no consensus. Some experts advise a 2:1 ratio of cal. To mag others advise a 1:2 ratio. I feel a 1:1 ratio is reasonable. Calcium carbonate is relatively poorly absorbed; citrate is much better. Mag glycinate is well-absorbed. Most adults need 5000 iu of d in fall ; winter for optimal levels. I advise adding vit k to your regime-see http://bit.Ly/1a48ofs ; http://bit.Ly/18qtb7y. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hello - I take Adderall and Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) daily. May I take a magnesium oxide/zinc sulfate/calcium carbonate supplement?
Can I try 3-4 TUMS (calcium carbonate) for severe leg cramps while on Prednisone? I do take multivitamin & a Magnesium, Zinc, Calcium supplement. Have OA. Any harm?
Possibly: TUMs (calcium carbonate) may affect the absorption of other medications. Also if they have calcium in them you do not want to go above 1,500 mg of calcium a day because of the risk of kidney stones. Also you said you have OA and we typically do not use Prednisone for that condition. Please make certain of your diagnosis ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
