Not sinusitis: There are at least 3 reasons for a perforated nasal septum. And sinusitis is definitely not one of them. Hard to damage: Cartilage, since it's a bit more forgiving than bone. The base of the bone is what's connected to the skull, and you are probably alright, just experiencing some inflammation, and swelling from the bruise. If it continues, have it checked by your pcp, so you can manage the pain. Meanwhile, if it's acute, ice packs help decompress inflammation and pain. ...Read more

Bad idea: You could conceivably dislocate your nose (requiring that it be fractured and set), and at any rate you might cause inflammation of cartilage that could be very unpleasant.
