Why you did the test: My first question will be why did you have the tests done in the first place? Tumor markers like ca 15-3, ca 125- are not supposed to be done as a screening test. They are not reliable & very non specific/not sensitive. They are mainly done to certain cancer patients to follow up their response to therapy given for their cancers. Only in select patients with humongously increased risk like certain mutation carriers or people with very strong family history these markers may be considered and even then there are no data to my knowledge that shows it decreases chances of dying of cancer. I did a ca 15-3 test and the result is 45 u/ml. Did the same test in 2007 and result was 33 u/ml. Why?
