I had a fall 9 weeks ago have C7 facet fractures with pars was fitted with a miami brace allowed home but I am still worried hope i'll be ok?
A fracture is a broken bone. As there is cartilage at the end of many bones at the joint, a fracture may also include a break in the cartilage. Fractures and broken bones are the same thing. It seems that many believe that a "fracture" is a lesser injury or an incomplete break in the bone, but this is not correct. Fractures may be displaced or ...Read more
I have C7 facet fractures with pars after scan was fitted with miami brace that was 9 weeks ago will I be ok?
C7 facet fractures& pars 4 months ago now healed was told take brace off but so frightened something might happen will it be ok fearful of everything?
Ok to be fearful: If you've been given the OK, just start slow with rehab and strengthening program. It will feel weak in the neck initially and even be sore, don't worry about that it is normal. Give it time and a few months from now you will be doing most everything you want to do. You can do it! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
C7 facet fractured healed my left arm still not good was wondering will I get extension back in it cannot raise it that high?
Injury after facet: When a facet fractures, bone/disc fragments may enter the nerve foramen (the tunnel between vertebrae where the nerve exits the spine). These fragments may cause pressure on the nerves and result in pain and/or weakness. Depending upon the fracture, this does not imply an unstable spine. If, however, instability is present then surgery is warranted. Otherwise, observation is fine if no worsening. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

C7 facet fracture healed brace off 2 weeks getting pain is it normal expected stiffness so worried each pain thinking will it re-frature fear not good?
Likely: Stiffness and muscle weakness after the brace came off. Slowly return to activities and stretch progressively more and more each day. Fear is a normal reaction after something like this. If it hurts all the time and doesn't improve maybe meeting with a spine specialist that addresses chronic facet pain is in order. PRP and stem cell therapies can be helpful to help heal and remove pain. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Have C7 facet fracture with pars 10 weeks ago for over a week have had buzzing in my ears could it be connected to injury worried now is it serious?
Possibly?: You didn't say how you got your cervical fracture, but I am sure some trauma was involved. If you fell, even if you didn't hit your head, the jarring could be contributing to your buzzing. Maybe your injury is more severe then expected. Get it checked out by your doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My C7 facet fracture has healed but left arm not good will I get extension back plus have frozen shoulder which don't help?
Speak with doctor: The extension range may take time to get back if you are supposed to limit it while the fracture healed. Will take constant therapy for a few months at least. Frozen Shoulder also requires constant range of motion, therapy and maybe even a cortisone injection or manipulation under anesthesia to help with this. Speak to your doctor, he/she should be able to help you. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Have C7 facet fratures with pars miami n brace 3 & months do u think it should have healed surgery scares me?
Facet fractures: Stable fractures of the cervical spine often heal in the first 3 months, and this is a reasonable time for immobilization. Once pain subsides, flexion/extension xrays will likely be taken to make sure no instability exists from ligament injury that would necessitate surgery despite bony healing. Posterior fusion surgery can be done safely/quickly in experienced hands with quick recovery. ...Read more

C7 Facet Fracture: Most single side facet fractures are stable and heal in two to three months. 33yr male w pars fractures on both sides of l5, pain from L5 root nerve, facet injections and epi did not help, how do I know if I need surgery? High pain
Can you recommend anything other than surgery? I began having lower back pain 6 yrs ago, ended up having 3 injections for fractured facets, arthritic changes and 2 bulging discs. 2 years ago, I had another 3 injections for the same problem. The dr told me
I'm sorry you're having trouble getting relief of your pain. Based on your description, you have facet mediated pain most likely from facet arthropathy (arthritis). It sounds as though you have exhausted many of the non-operative options available for your problem. Some other options (you may or may not have tried already) include acupuncture, physical therapy, oral medications, and lumbar traction. None of these methods are a "cure-all" but they may give you enough relief to make the situation tolerable and avoid surgery.
If you fail all of these measures and continue to have pain that interferes with your quality of life you might consider surgery. There are some newer techniques that have not stood the test of time (facet joint replacement) but the gold standard is lumbar fusion. It is reliable surgery in the properly indicated patient. You would need to discuss the risks, benefits, and alternatives with your surgeon, but don't expect 100% relief of pain. If you can accept 75% improvement in your pain condition, that would be a reasonable expectation.
Good luck, hope you find relief. ...Read more

What does this mean? I have a small subchondral fracture deformity of the lateral trochlear facet with prominent bone marrow edema throughout the regi
Cartilage damage: Prominent marrow edema of the lateral trochlea means that the cartilage covering the bone in this area is injured or worn thin. This is a common place to develop arthritis which causes marrow edema when the cartilage gets too thin or is worn out and bare bone is exposed there. If you had a recent injury, it could be cartilage damage rather than arthritis. See your provider for recommendations. ...Read more
