C5 herniated disk with pinched nerve. How long does it usually take to recover if take PT 3x's wk. and recommended meds?

Variable: A herniated ("ruptured") disk can respond nicely to physical therapy and the body's natural healing processes. In my experience it can take weeks to months. But in some cases, perhaps 10-15 percent, surgery is needed. Indications for surgery include significant weakness, numbness, persistent pain, pressure on the spinal cord, trouble walking, or failure of conservative management. ...Read more

Is a pinched nerve in the neck at C5 C6 a serious condition? Is a pinched nerve like cervical radiculopathy? Please help

Outcome varies: If there is compression of one of the nerve roots it is sometimes equivalent to a "pinched nerve" . This type of physical compression of a nerve root can result in a radiculopathy. The outcome is variable. Sometimes over a period of days - weeks the radiculopathy will spontaneously improve. If you start noticing difficulty in pinching (weakness) of your thumb and index finger then check with MD. ...Read more

Dizziness & pain in neck when turn head to either side. Occasionally see black spots. Have Mild C5-C6 pinched nerve, neck stiffness & pain?

Get it checked,,: It's a good idea to get this checked out, especially the dizziness, as it could mean something more than a pinched nerve. It could be something to do with the ear canal or a blood pressure issue or some other condition. So it's a good idea to get a comprehensive check-up along with the results of the tests you had to find out what this is. Good luck! ...Read more
