Where do symptoms occur when you have a c5-c6 pinched nerve?

Where do symptoms occur when you have a c5-c6 pinched nerve?

C6 Nerve: A c5/6 issue will usually involve the c6 nerve causing a radiculitis/radiculopathy ("pinched nerve"). This will normally give you tinging and numbness on your front of upper arm into forearm and to thumb and index finger. Weakness can be seen in the extensor of your wrist, muscle that rotate your hand down, your flexor of the arm. ...Read more

Nerve (Definition)

The brain and spinal cord communicates with what is occurring in the internal organs and limbs by nerve fibers where are like electrical wires with insulation (myelin) and the "copper" (axon). Within brain and spinal cord these nerves connect to other nerves via synapses on both axons and dendrites. A nerve can carry information regarding sensations, and ...Read more

Dizziness & pain in neck when turn head to either side. Occasionally see black spots. Have Mild C5-C6 pinched nerve, neck stiffness & pain?

Dizziness & pain in neck when turn head to either side. Occasionally see black spots. Have Mild C5-C6 pinched nerve, neck stiffness & pain?

Get it checked,,: It's a good idea to get this checked out, especially the dizziness, as it could mean something more than a pinched nerve. It could be something to do with the ear canal or a blood pressure issue or some other condition. So it's a good idea to get a comprehensive check-up along with the results of the tests you had to find out what this is. Good luck! ...Read more

Diagnosed w c5/c6 pinched nerve (ncs test), mild shoulder bursitis & bicep tendinosis (mri), & de Quervain's (finkelstein's) on same side. Possible?

Diagnosed w c5/c6 pinched nerve (ncs test), mild shoulder bursitis & bicep tendinosis (mri), & de Quervain's (finkelstein's) on same side. Possible?

Yes.: Possible. The ncs and MRI are pretty definitive tests. So i believe the c5/6 impingements. On the other hand finklestein's is also a pretty good predictor of de quervain's. Certainly could have all three. ...Read more

Fell, hit left shoulder on railing 2 days ago. Had tingling in left arm immediately after. Have chronic right C5-c6 pinched nerve. Had headache since?

Fell, hit left shoulder on railing 2 days ago. Had tingling in left arm immediately after. Have chronic right C5-c6 pinched nerve. Had headache since?

Hit you head?: Did you hit your head as well? Does the pain travel to the hand? If you have chronic arm pain from the pinched nerve and this is now worse, then it is likely that you have inflamed that nerve again, The headache is more worrisome of a post concussive syndrome if you hit you head as well. Time to go see your Doc. ...Read more

Is a pinched nerve in the neck at C5 C6 a serious condition? Is a pinched nerve like cervical radiculopathy? Please help

Is a pinched nerve in the neck at C5 C6 a serious condition? Is a pinched nerve like cervical radiculopathy? Please help

Outcome varies: If there is compression of one of the nerve roots it is sometimes equivalent to a "pinched nerve" . This type of physical compression of a nerve root can result in a radiculopathy. The outcome is variable. Sometimes over a period of days - weeks the radiculopathy will spontaneously improve. If you start noticing difficulty in pinching (weakness) of your thumb and index finger then check with MD. ...Read more

Are epidural injection and traction the only thing used for a pinched nerve in the neck at C5 c6? Please help if you can

See a specialist: See a spine specialist. An MRI of the cervical spine can be useful. Conservative care includes pt, chiropractic, cervical traction, epidural injections and non steroidal anti-inflammatory meds. If these fail, surgery is often successful in relieving the pain. Does the following mean 2 pinch nerves? 1. degenerative disc disease at the C2-C3 level to result in mild to moderate spinal canal stenosis at this level. 2.. Degenerate changes at the C5-C6 and C6-C7 levels resulting in mild to moderate spinal cana

No but can't tell: Spinal canal stenosis can cause spinal cord compression. In order to know if a nerve is pinched in the cervical spine you want to know if there is lateral spinal canal stenosis ore more specifically foraminal stenosis. The foramen is where the nerve comes out of the spine and can be pinched. ...Read more

Neck cracks/pops, forehead/scalp tingling, is the result of pinched nerves in neck from bulges at C5-C6 and C6-C7 via neck MRI? Brain CTs/MRI's were all normal. Help!

Tingling: Neck cracking usually emanates from neck ligaments and vertebrae. Pinched nerves in the cervical spine generally cause Sharp, shooting pains in the back of the scalp. Tingling of forehead would be an unusual manifestation. I would be reassured about no significant neurological pathology in your case and would regard the tingling symptoms as more of a nuisance. A neurologist can advise you best. ...Read more

Neck cracking/popping, forehead/scalp tingling, the result of pinched nerves in neck from bulges at C5-C6 and C6-C7 via neck MRI? MRI's and CT's of brain were normal. Thanks.

Does not correlate.: The disk bulges at C5-C7 should affect your arm & neck, not the forehead & scalp. Many people live their ENTIRE LIVES with bulging disks & don't complain of any pain, so MRI or CT scan to "diagnose" bulging disks is actually a gross misuse of imaging. Talk to your doctor or a neurologist about your symptoms to undergo accurate testing. Or use HealthTap Prime. Good luck to you; hope you find cause. ...Read more

Does c5-c6, c6-c7 disc herniation n nerve compression cause headaches/ dizziness?

Does c5-c6, c6-c7 disc herniation n nerve compression cause headaches/ dizziness?

Probably not: Although cervical spine problems can be associated with headaches and dizziness, usually these problems originate from the upper cervical segments(c2-5). If you are having arm and/or upper back pain, it is probably the result of these disc herniations. You should know that many patients without symptoms will have c5-7 disc herniations on their MRI which may be a serendipitous finding. ...Read more

Not : Not all disk herniations cause pain. Emg is helpful to determine which disks and nerves are symptomatic. This information may help determine the disks operated on. Therefore, EMG is often necessary because it may give important information. Good luck! ...Read more

If I have a bulging c5/c6 disc in my neck would it be putting pressure on my nerves?

SEE A PAIN DOC: A disc is bulging because it loses elasticity - like a waistband in your underwear. When it loses elasticity it no longer stays nice and tight and snug like it used to be. If it bulges enough it can get close to the nerve and irritate it. The inflammation and irritation can cause pain in the neck or shoulder blade as well as pain, numbness, tingling or weakness in your arm. ...Read more
