28 wks pregnant, previous c section, placenta anterior, no acretta now- placenta is 4cm above c section scar. Could acretta still develop at this pt?

Yes but low risk: Acretta can develop even in women who have never had a c/section. Fortunately this is rare. The risk is much higher if the placenta is covering the prior c/section scar. With the placenta 4cm from the scar, your risk is very low (but not zero). Best wishes! ...Read more

39 weeks pregnant tomorrow scheduled c section in 4 days...is monistat 3 safe to take? Thanks

Call OB doc first: You are having symptoms, either discharge or itching, I presume, that makes you think you have a yeast infection, it would be best to call your OB doc and discuss your symptoms first, to be sure that that is what is going on. Don't take a chance that you may be mistaken as to the cause of your symptoms. ...Read more

I had my son almost 4 months ago via my second c section. (I did go into labor first) off&on bleeding. At times within 2 weeks. No period in two month?

C-section: it is normal for women to bleed intermittently after birth c- section or not from 4-8 weeks. It is also not unusual for periods not to start immediately after birth especially if you are nursing. This does however, not protect you from pregnancy. ...Read more

Would uterine, cervical or ovarian cancer be noticed during a c section? C section 14 weeks ago. Bled after sex few times so am worried about cancer.

Would uterine, cervical or ovarian cancer be noticed during a c section? C section 14 weeks ago. Bled after sex few times so am worried about cancer.

No: Cervical cancer/ovarian cancer would probably not be noted at the time of a c/section. However, most doctors do screen for cervical cancer (a pap-smear) near the beginning of pregnancy care. So if you had cervical cancer it would have been picked up on this pap-smear. Ovarian cancer is not common at age 34. I'd see your doc about the bleeding but think cancer risk is low. Best wishes! ...Read more

39 weeks pregnant At 38 week I was 3 cm dialated and 50% effaced I am getting a cervix sweep tomorrow morning. Whats the estimated time for labor?

Roughly about 3 days: Some estimates state that after stripping of membranes (a.k.a. "getting cervix sweep"), about 50-60% of patients go into labor within 72 hours. I'm finding that in my own practice that percentage is really more like 40-50%. Good luck! ...Read more

Had cerclage stitch at 20 weeks for 1cm cervix length, will i be able to carry baby until at least 30/32 weeks. ?

A good chance: Its not possible to predict the future in your specific case; however, a cerclage has been shown to reduce pre-term birth in women with a short cervix. Progesterone supplementation is another intervention that can also help. Best wishes! ...Read more

Does stripping membranes at 38 weeks pregnant work?

Does stripping membranes at 38 weeks pregnant work?

Yes, but..: 'stripping membranes' also runs the risk of induced rupture of the membranes. If you don't then go into spontaneous labor over a short period of time, infection to the baby can result as well as the need for labor induction' with drugs. Talk to your OB md and express your 'birth plan' desires. ...Read more

May be normal.: The provided history may reflect a normal postoperative and postpartum course. If any tissue were to remain in the uterus, a pelvic ultrasound could be performed to determine if there are any retained products of conception. ...Read more

Suffered frm rupture at the fundus at 24 weeks, had to deliver my baby thro c section. What are my future chances for a normal pregnancy. ?

Pregnancy: After ruptured uterus, I am sorry for what happened to yourself, it depends on the site and extent of the rupture, and how it healed, you can still conceive and probably have an uneventful pregnancy, but you need to be under close obstetric supervision all through, with high risk obstetrician, (maternal fetal medicine specialist), and delivery would most probably be elective C. Section, good luck ...Read more

Have been bleeding after sex (though not every time) since had c section 14 weeks ago. Could the bleeding be linked to c section?

Have been bleeding after sex (though not every time) since had c section 14 weeks ago. Could the bleeding be linked to c section?

Probably not but...: It is relatively rare that "bleeding after sex since a Cesarian...be linked to the c section" unless the incision in your lower uterine segment/upper cervix failed to heal properly or completely. If you have a normal speculum exam, Pap test and Gyn exam, the possibility of a "Cesarian scar defect" may need to be ruled out or ruled in by a careful sonographic evaluation by a certified sonographer. ...Read more
