1st gen vs 2nd gen: Propranolol is a first generation bb and effective for heart rate control, panic attacks, migraines, angina and blood pressure control. It's very inexpensive. Bystolic (nebivolol) is new and expensive. They share the same potential adverse effects. Neither is a first line BP medicine. There are many better choices than a bb for BP control but both are good for cad. ...Read more

FMD: In an 18 year old and hypertensive, is there any cause found for his hypertension? I would be concerned about having fmd fibromuscular dysplasia. Or carotid dissection.
