Yes: Herniated disks that are cause of sciatica pain typically get worse with sitting, bending at the waist, and definitely worse with bending/twisting and raising a heavy object. Try avoiding these positions/activities initially. Typically most herniated disk pain improves on its own by 3-6 weeks.
