Depends: Literature review states few minutes to 2 hours. Purposeful exposure or inhalation of butane is very dangerous and can lead to sudden death. Well, thing is I was emptying out the fluid from my lighter and then I smeeled something awful (butane) and it can kill me. I'm scared. :' (?
Won't kill you: Butane smells nasty but it won't kill you and a whiff won't endanger your health. Neither will any of the other hydrocarbons used for burning. The really dangerous chemicals are kept under pretty good control. If you use the lighter for smoking tobacco, perhaps this would be a great time to think about getting help with quitting. You're in your prime & deserve to give yourself the best. ...Read more

I smoked small amounts of butane possibly 8 days ago smoking a dab bho THC oil made from weed extracted from butane. How worried should I be?
Wikipedia: hash oil: Is where I got the info to answer your question. The process uses LIQUID butane to dissolved chemicals in pot. Butane boils away at room temp very quickly, leaving crystals. These crystals get dissolved in the oil, which you smoked. Butane BOILS at below freezing. If there was any butane in the oil it would have exploded when you lit it. The question is, what other chemicals were concentrated for you to smoke? ...Read more

No butane. Only 20%: Of people produce methane. 99% of the gas volume does not smell. More recent evidence proves that the major contribution to the smell of flatus comes from a combination of volatile sulphur compounds (vsc). it is known that hydrogen sulphide (h2s), methyl mercaptan, mm (also known as methanethiol, mt), dimethyl sulphide (dms), dimethyl disulphide (dmds) and dimethyl trisulphide (dmts) are present and cause the smell. Those compounds are the one percent that cause the smell. Source: wikipedia. Best wishes. ...Read more
I occasionally smell the butane in my husbands zippo and I'm 27 weeks pregnant...is that harmful?
No harm: You would have to purposefully try and inhale as much as you can to harm yourself or your developing baby. This would, however, be a terrific time to convince your husband to stop smoking as the smoke is harming him, you, and perhaps the baby. ...Read more
I was going to fill a butane lighter and it was already full. It started spewing gas and now I feel very weird and a little nauseous. Am I ok?

5 weeks pregnant. Inhaled on accident toluene, acetone, xylene, propane, butane in 5 breaths. Got a little on finger. Scared about birth defects now.
Stop worrying: The vast majority of birth defects are probably no more common in this era of widespread chemical exposure than they were centuries ago. A healthy concern for your new baby and a dysfunctional tort system has generated unrealistic concerns such as what you express. You make acetone in your body, and the others are basically inert. Congratulations on your pregnancy. Don't let "toxic fear" ruin it. ...Read more
