Overdosing: There is no scientific evidence of drug safety when more than four or five drugs affecting one's brain are taken at one time. This significant list of medications taken together raise all kinds of warning flags. In my practice when someone is on this many mental health medications at once i always request a second opinion from a different mental health professional. This is not safe. ...Read more
I have been having chest burning. Doctor told me it was anxiety and heartburn. Ekg was clear. Gave me Zantac and Buspar (buspirone). How long does it take to work?
It depends: it depends mostly on how severe the episode was, whether the conditions that brought on the episode are still present, and whether any treatment that you're giving it is effective or not. You should abstain from caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco. It would be wise to avoid any Foods that you notice bring on your symptoms. Follow whatever medication regimen your doctor has put you on. Good luck. ...Read more

But like all medicines, you may feel emotionally attached or dependent on it, psychologically. This shouldn't be a major concern if it's helping you. By the way, that's a fairly low dose for most people. Take care. ...Read more

Hi, Which better : to take the whole does of Buspar= 30 mg for GAD, by divided in 2 or 3 times daily ? (i.e 15mg twice or 10mg thrice) ?? Thank you.
Divided doses: buspirone is a relatively short acting drug which is taken at least twice daily, and in some people requires three times a day treatment, and rarely even four times a day. The side effects, mainly dizziness, lightheadedness and headache, go up with higher doses so you should NOT take 30 mg at once, but rather 10 mg three times/day or 15 mg twice a day. ...Read more

Buspar (buspirone): I wouldn't expect a problem with this one time taking of the second dose after 5 hours, but if you've had any prior side effects or difficulty taking a stronger dose, I would not take an additional dose but wait for tomorrow and resume your normal dosage schedule. I take 30 mg of Buspar (buspirone) twice daily. However it makes me extremely tired for an hour or two. Can I take both doses at night? Are there other solutions?
Only 1 solution: The only solution is to discuss this w/ the prescribing Dr. They need to know the effects their Rx is having and they need to make whatever adjustments possible to optimize your treatment. It's not impossible - but unlikely that they'll go to 60mg at night. Let them know and talk about it. Definitely don't change the directions on your own! It can be risky and you deserve better care than that! ...Read more
