I stopped taking lexipro after 5 days because of side effects. Can I resume taking buspar (buspirone) the next day? I was on buspar (buspirone) before the lexipro.
Talk to prescriber: The doctors who prescribed both drugs (I assume they are from different prescribers) are who you need to talk to, or at least your pharmacist. Without knowing what your health history is, what medications have been used before, and what other medications you are taking, it is impossible to advise you. Buspar (buspirone) is not an antidepressant, and is only for anxiety, while lexapro can work for both. ...Read more
Which is best for G A D. Buspar (buspirone) or Remeron and which has the least side effects. Thanks?
Too many!: You already take drugs appropriate for GAD and either of the ones you wish to add are VERY risky in combination w/ the Lexapro (escitalopram). Neither is advised. Tere are also less severe warnings about their interaction w/ your diazepam. Don't expect everything to be done by pills. There is strong and massive research that shows these are all more effective in combo w/ CBT therapy. You need to get involved! ...Read more
Have there been studies comparing the effectiveness of BuSpar (buspirone) to SSRI/SNRIs for GAD? If yes, results? Overall, which has more side-effects?
Mixed: One small clinical trial compared buspirone with sertraline (an SSRI) in elderly patients with GAD; both drugs demonstrated clinically significant anxiolytic effects; however, in another study, extended-release venlafaxine (an SNRI) demonstrated significantly superior efficacy on an anxiety subscale compared with buspirone for treatment of GAD ...Read more

Can wellbutrin and Buspar (buspirone) and Risperdal togther Help GAD without take ssirs because of sexual side effects?
Yes, potentially: Although I don't think I would put Risperdal into the mix unless there was concern about either some thought disorder (schizoaffective or schizotypal) or evidence of bipolar disorder. Buspar (buspirone) is effective, but often the dose has to be gradually upped to the 60-90 mg range. Sometimes Wellbutrin may make anxiety worse, particularly if it is immediate release. The extended release forms are better. ...Read more
