Buspar (buspirone) has few interactions with other medications and usually mild or no side effects. Alcohol is a powerful drug and combined with Buspar can be sedating. Also, alcohol has rebound withdrawal effects 18 to 24 hours after drinking causing nervousness relieved by more alcohol. Consider counseling & stopping all alcohol with higher doses of Buspar until anxiety relieved.

What will happen if I miss one dose of buspar (buspirone)? I take it before bed and 12 hours later. I've missed yesterday and todays second dose, and anxiety rose
Compliance is key: Compliance is key to good outcomes for any medical condition. Missing a dose or two or three or 10 of any medication simply raises the chances of a sub optimal outcome. In some cases that could be very bad and in other cases it really doesn't affect overall quality of life too much but you should always try and be compliant if you want to feel better. ...Read more
Tried 10mg dose of Buspar (buspirone) at 5-6pm instead of 8 cause I thought it made insomnia worse. Get whooshes/head rushes after an hour. Not after am dose tho.

2 change médication to one with less risk of sexual side effects (bupropion, mirtazepine)
3 non FDA approved interventions include adding a medication to over come this adverse event including but not limited too buspirone.
Thinking of asking for Buspar, (buspirone) so I don't have to be on Xanax, added to my Prozac and maybe an up on my dose (20 to 30). Thoughts?
Anxiety: Buspirone is approved for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder and is sometimes used off-label for other anxiety disorders and depression. For some patients it is very effective. Higher doses of an SSRI such as fluoxetine (Prozac) are often effective for anxiety. I would ask your physician about both of these changes, but DO NOT stop the Xanax (alprazolam) on your own, this can be very dangerous. ...Read more
