30-60mg/day: Work closely with your md, as increasing too rapidly can make you unsteady, dizzy. Buspar (buspirone) can be started 5-10mg 2-3x a day and increased by 5-10mg every 4+days as tolerated up to max 60mg/day or lower if not tolerate that high of a dose. Some indivs need the 60mg/day total dosing to reach significant benefit of buspar (buspirone). It also can take 4-6 weeks for a response. Read more

Medication side effe: I can't tell from the description you provide what the time sequence is, but the first thing to do is always rule out a medication side effect. If it is safe for you to return to 30 mg of fluoxetine that might solve the problem. Read more

Uncommon side effect: Unfortunately this is a non-lethal side effect of Buspirone. It is described:"Infrequent were muscle cramps, muscle spasms, rigid/stiff muscles, and arthralgias; rare was muscle weakness". The side effects you are experiencing these side effects and it would be wise to taper it off with your doctor's directions. Read more

I accidentally took a double dose of my buspar (buspirone). Normal is 15mg x 3 and I took 30 at once. Is this safe?

Yes: You should be fine. Drink lots of water just watch for drowsiness/ lightheartedness. Take buspar (buspirone) with or without food. If this was the 2nd dose of the day then take the next dose the next day. For Buspar to work properly it should be taken at regular intervals (2 -3 divided doses/day). Choose the times that are best for you; this way you can take your medication at same time each day. Read more

Not a big deal: Skip the dose. Start back as prescribed tomorrow. With time and cognitive behavioral therapy this may become a moot point as you may not require as much or any medication in the future. Read more

Can Buspar (buspirone) bi used one dose a day only for reversing the sexual side effect?

Maybe?: Almost 60% of people switched to Buspar (buspirone) actually have an improvement of their sexual function. Each person is a bit different though. I would recommend using it in the morning to see if the bad side effects wear off at night time, or the reverse if you're more interested in morning sexual activity Read more

Tell your doctor: And you may need to give it time, adjust your meds or do something differently. Are you eating enough? Track your eating, sleeping and your med pattern. Call your doctor and report this and get help. That's what they are there for. Nurses can triage this until the MD gets back to you. Good luck. Read more

What will happen if I miss one dose of buspar (buspirone)? I take it before bed and 12 hours later. I've missed yesterday and todays second dose, and anxiety rose

Compliance is key: Compliance is key to good outcomes for any medical condition. Missing a dose or two or three or 10 of any medication simply raises the chances of a sub optimal outcome. In some cases that could be very bad and in other cases it really doesn't affect overall quality of life too much but you should always try and be compliant if you want to feel better. Read more

Tried 10mg dose of Buspar (buspirone) at 5-6pm instead of 8 cause I thought it made insomnia worse. Get whooshes/head rushes after an hour. Not after am dose tho.

Half dose: I would try taking half a pill. Buspar (buspirone) one is not a coated/long acting pill so should be fine. If scored you should be able to break in half. If not get a pill cutter. If that works you can ask your doc for 5 MG pills on your next refill. Buspar (buspirone) one max dose is 60 MG daily and you ca. Take it every 4-6 hrs. Hope this helps Read more
