Buspar And Sertraline
Taking liquid Zoloft (sertraline) for two weeks w/buspar, still feel loss of appetite and losing some wght. Anxiety is not as bad. Is no appetite normal?
No appetite: No, it's more normal to have some appetite. You and your doctor may need to increase your zoloft (sertraline) dose, since loss of appetite can be part of depression. Zoloft (sertraline) also requires at least 4-6 weeks therapeutic dosing for effectiveness. Work with your doctor on this, and please consider adding psychotherapy also. ...Read more

Many psychiatrists are happy to give general practitioners a consultation with their patient who is not stable on one anti-depressant. Perhaps this could be an option for you.
In the U.S. Many have added a drug named Abilify (aripiprazole) to other anti-depressants to boost their effectiveness.
Hope this helps. ...Read more

Which antidepresant drug would go good with busper, curently on Zoloft (sertraline) 200mg and want to change?
Good Question: Zoloft is classified as an ssri. If zoloft is not helping, you should ask your physician about drugs that work by a different mechanism. Most anti-depressants help with anxiety. However, you may consider adding an additional drug for the anxiety. I advise against taking benzodiazipines (valium, xanac, etc). Instead, consider something like lyrica, (pregabalin) Neurontin or (in special cases) lamictal. ...Read more
