Prednisone starting 40mg/day taper over 8 mo. Sle. Hip/knee pain severe past 2 months. Hip pain totally new. Pain chronic.Possible avascular necrosis?
Possibly: Hip pain from avn can be felt in the groin, thigh or knee. It may hurt at night or with activities. X-rays may or may not show evidence of the condition, while an MRI scan is very helpful in detecting the condition and extent of involvement of the bone. Treatment may include core decompression or hip replacement depending on extent of involvement. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Many causes: There are many causes for back pain. At 25 years old it is unlikely to be anything serious. It is probably muscle strain. If the pain gets severe see a doctor. If not try stretching both before and after walking and do some walking every day. Drink plenty of water. Muscles ache and spasm more if you are not well hydrated. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Fractured sacro iliac joint 2 1/2 years ago healed caused hip bursitis had steroid injections but haven't worked possible arthritis?? In so much pain!
Possibly.: There are numerous causes of arthritis of s/I joints, but it can usually be broken down into two main problems: inflammation caused by a mechanical problem and inflammation caused by your immune system attacking your joint. a fracture can lead to osteoarthritis of affected joint. My advice is to see a rheumatologist and get worked with x-rays and labs to determine cause since it has not improved. ...Read more

cant walk, pain shoots down leg/1 yr already?
Sciatic n. Injury: Difficulty walking & severe sciatica for one year & post-injection of medicine into ipsilateral buttock suggests mass-effect/permanent type of injury to sciatic nerve. See a Neurologist for confirmation. Knowledge of a medical misadventure does not begin until the sufferer learns, from an expert, that it has occurred. A most unfortunate circumstance if this is indeed what occurred. Iatrogenic? ...Read more

Sacroiliac fracture 1 year ago non displaced had 2 MRI not healed in so much pain hip burning and legs too?
An ununited: Sacral fracture (pseudarthrosis) can be very difficult to bear. If this is not healing one consideration would be treatment with injection of methacrylate to fuse the bone segments together. This can be done by interventional radiologists under flouroscopic/ct guidance. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Sprained ankle 10mnths ago, still pain on weightbearing, but no instability.Mri(5mnths back)said 2 torn ligaments.Did extensive pt exs, bracing.Stil pain?
Have it evaluated.: Pain may last a long time following a foot or ankle injury. An x-ray can show if there is an underlying fracture. You may have a soft tissue injury if it is just a sprain and may have damaged the muscle, tendon, or ligaments in the area. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment. If the pain has not improved with conservative measures surgery may be a good option. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Grade 2 sprain 7 years agao, steroid injection 2 years ago, hurt ankle last week, ankle now numb, feels like ankle isn't there when pushing off it?
Recurrent sprain: You will want to have your ankle evaluated. Air cast immobilization followed by rehabilitation would be useful treatment, and proprioceptive training can reduce risk of recurrence. Consider seeing a physiatrist who can provide appropriate treatment or physical therapy referral if necessary. ...Read more
9 yr injury 2 knee w/medial & lateral jointline tenderness spurs bursitis. Mri neg ors will not prescription pt just ex knees sore w/ex. Possible tear not seen?
Yes: Many times the radiologist can miss a subtle tear or flip lesion in the knee. This may be because it does not show on the scan (because of the 5-7mms between slices) or because it just was not seen. I see many patients for second opinions that the original surgeon never even looked at the images with their own eyes, they only read the report. ...Read more
Left scapula & intermittent chest pain for 2 yrs. Had injections, PT, ACDF surgery. Seen Ortho & Rheuma docs w/no help. Tired of constant pain. Ideas?
Knee pain continues 2 weeks after arthroscopic to remove scar tissue.....I'm worried...knee very stiff....
It takes time: for the knee 2 heal. When I had meniscus surgery physical therapy was extremely helpful at helping me regain strength and mobility. I went 2-3 times a week for a while and now I am back to rigorous exercise (Zumba without too much jumping, to prevent injury) 1 & 1/2 years later. Slowly but surely follow doctor and physical therapist's instructions. Swimming helped a lot early on. ...Read more

Chronic sij pain. Becomes displaced often. 2 steroid inj with min brief relief (2wks) now pain seems even worse 8/10 on pain scale constantly.Surgery?
Probably not surgery: Sacroiliac joint pain occurs because the muscles where the spine and pelvis meet are involved in bending, twisting, and lifting. Pain from a sprain or strain may be helped with nonsteroidals or local injections. You may need physical therapy to strengthen and stretch your muscles so there's not so much strain on that joint. Surgery probably won't help your pain and may decrease function. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
