Likely just muscle.: Physical therapy for rotator cuff is a mainstay of therapy for this. With stretching and exercise the other muscles and tendons of the shoulder joint will become strengthened and stretched. I take 1200 mg/day of gabapentin for neuropathic burning shoulder pain that also has pain from rotator cuff pain. But it still burns. Any advice?

Check neck: Could be from the shoulder or referred. Common referred sources include: abdomen, heart and neck. Shoulder sources include: arthritis, labral tears, instability, tendinitis, rotator cuff tears, bursitis, painful bony spurs etc. Shoulder blade pain can be from the neck or bursitis around the blade.
