Sudden onset burning sensation right under sternum. I was cleaning dishes when it started, I ate about 2 hours ago, pain goes away upon sitting still?
Couple of things: This could be from pulling a muscle in between your ribs or it may be reflux disease due to what you ate for lunch. Try Tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen and see if it goes away. Chest pain after mea: If it is mostly related to meals, and not when not after a meal, then mostly a case of reflux from the stomach back up into the esophagus. The esophagus is not made by nature to tolerate acid as food is not supposed to back up into it. Acid in the esophagus burns the esophagus. Unknown for sure:
Many of my patients who have angioplasty have mild discomfort after angioplasty for a month. Usually it doesn't last much longer than that though. I think it is from the stent stretching out the artery. Here is a link:
