Muscle Strain : There is not much in that area. You could have a muscle strain. Sometimes shingles can present as a burning sensation but usually has a band of redness associated with it. Nerve compression?: It seems the pain is related to posture. It's possible that you have compression of the root of a thoracic nerve as it leaves the spinal cord. These nerves travels beneath each of your ribs. Straightening the spine relieves the compression. Sit in a straight backed chair and keep the spine erect when sitting.
