Periph. Neuropathy: Sounds like the onset of a peripheral neuropathy which can be related to underlying diseases, spinal cord arthritic changes with pressure on nerve endings, or spinal cord lesions themselves. You need to see and be evaluated by a neurologist and would do this asap as the longer nerve conditions persist the slower the resolution. Good luck. Read more

Thumb Pain: Tough to say based on that description. One possibility would be osteoarthritis at the base of the thumb/wrist, though not typically described as burning. There are other possibilities and best to have a consult with a hand doctor for a good exam. Best of luck. Read more

Strain vs. Tendonitis: What did a X-Ray / MRI show? There are several diagnoses ranging from tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, radiculopathy, RSI, nerve entrapment to TFCC tear vs. Fracture. Thus you need a good exam & may need an EMG. Once the diagnosis is clear we can develop a clear treatment plan which may ultimately include a wrist brace and Hand therapy if an injection is not indicated. See a Hand specialist Read more

Circular dry patch on my wrist more noticeable some days than others. I've noticed that when I put lotion it gets red and I feel a burning sensation.

The patch could be: Eczema or atopic dermatitis, both due to very dry skin and perhaps allergies. As you suggest, dryness is the main culprit. It may burn because the skin is so dry that there are actually microscopic cuts/breaks in it which burn when chemicals applied. Many lotions have alcohols or acids (glycolic, azaelaic, lactic) that are irritating. Humidify, hydrate, use sensitive skin lotions/creams. Read more

Paresthesias: There are several possibilities depending on the precise distribution of the symptoms. Google separately images for ulnar nerve, median nerve and dermatomes. See which ones match best his symptoms. If these don't precisely fit the problem could also be in the spinal cord or brain. Have an evaluation by a neurologist to further help. Read more

After 2 months since cat bite to left wrist I still have limited movement and server pain at times along with a burning sensation. What could be wrong?

Injury: It's possible that the bite involved a tendon or nerve that runs through the wrist, or that it became infected shortly after the bite. Either way, I would recommend that you have this seen by your regular physician, if not go directly to a hand surgeon. Read more

Burning sensation on left wrist last 10 seconds been going on for a week and a half no medication or injuries?

In certain cultures: This means either you are going to come into a large sum of money or you are going to have your car towed. Burning discomfort in the wrist associated with repetitive motions and numbness or parasthesias in the thumb, and first 2-3 fingers usually is due to irritation or compression of the median nerve. (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) If no injury rash has occurred I would ret it and see if it resolves. Read more

I have a burning sensation inside my wrist & is moving up my forearm. Also it sometimes ache. Why is this?

Tunnell syndrome: Sounds like a nerve entrapment syndrome such as carpal tunnel. Typically the pain will involve some of the fingers and wrist, and radiate upward toward the elbow. You may want to try using a wrist splint at night to see if this helps. You can find a wrist splint at any store that also has a pharmacy. Read more
