Did you have the surgery as open procedure, or laparoscopic.?
Make sure that you follow your surgeon instructions.
Apply heat pad and take more ibuprofen than narcotic, and make sure that your bowels are soft and you are going every day.

If this is the first time it has happened, I would use a heating pad or sit in warm water and see if it doesn't go away, while starting a bulky fiber diet and taking a stool softener so you won't have to strain at all. Possible stress?: When you say that your doctors do not see anything does that mean they have done endoscopies for the stomach and do not see ulcers? Have they done barium swallow's and not seen anything abnormal in the esophagus or elsewhere in the G.I. tract? Is there are no hiatal hernia on imaging exams or anything else?
