I try using a pillow to raise the back of my sore heel but it still doesn't stop the burning pain. I wonder if Achilles tendon is involved. Walk OK.

Good question: Achilles tendonopathy tends to produce an enlarged, tender tendon (particularly sore when squeezed). Also, small nerve branches supplying the heel can become irritated to cause a burning pain. One question: why are you taking clonazepam? Underlying disorder? See your doctor for exam. Details of the physical should help diagnosis, and this will help treatment. ...Read more

Injury: I am a runner and had a similar problem for a length of time. You might have to incorporate some type of stretching. I would possibly first see a dr. Also, popliteal cysts can cause this pain as well. These are seen commonly w/ knee problems like a cartilage tear. See your pcp and possibly referral to orthopedic surgeon. Best of luck! ...Read more

Sprain vs. tear: It would be best to see a Podiatrist for a quick evaluation and diagnosis as this could be a sprain or represent a small tear. additional possibilities include tendonitis or even an impingement syndrome. With an accurate diagnosis your MD can determine if stretching, an anti-inflammatory, rest/ice/massage or some time with a Physical therapist is the next step.
