C Ur Surgeon First: Burning pain is typical of nerve irritation which is not uncommon following hernia repair. While this usually resolves within 6 months, it's persistence warrants intervention. I recommend that you see your surgeon just to be certain that no recurrence exists. If not, it would be appropriate to see a chronic pain specialist. Right side: Right sided abdominal burning distress can be due to abdominal muscle irritation/inflammation or strain, gall bladder disease or appendicitis especially if right lower abdominal tenderness is also present. Interesting: That is an unusual situation. The belly button can accumulate debris/sweat and may have developed an irritation. There are some oily glands there. Clean well with mild soap/water. If redness apply a little bit of neosporin with a qtip. If not better in AM or worsens rapidly see MD to make sure not an infection. Seems to be pain.: Sometimes we can't find a specific diagnosis other than pain. If you have been seen at two medical centers I am not sure you will find a better diagnosis on line. This sounds as though it is neuropathic pain. When will they move on to treatment? ...Read more
