Need further workup: May be due to continued nerve entrapment in terms of residual spinal stenosis, a recurrent disc herniation, scar tissue development about the nerve or neuropathic pain related to the nerve not fully recovering from the prior compression &/or related to its manipulation during your surgery or a combination of these. A MRI with contrast is best diagnostic test for this & possibly an emg/ncv test. ...Read more

Depends: I would like to know where the pain starts. If it originates at the buttock it is possible that the problem could be coming from the back despite not having back pain. My advice would be to get an EMG to rule out a radiculopathy, consider imaging of L-spine and Right Hip, and based on these results decide further tx. Buttock pain could be coming from back, hip or SI joint. Further w/u needed. ...Read more

Hip flexors - psoas?: There are a few major muscles that might be involved as well as ligaments and nerves including the sciatic. A good massage therapist or chiropractor or PT is a good place to start. They can refer to a Dr if needed. There are exercises and yoga poses that might help too.
