I had burning pain above belly button, black stool and drop in hgb indicating ulcer; stopped bleeding on own and resolved on its own. What is the likelyhood it will bleed again. Still Having burning pain.

Good chance: The bleeding if due to an ulcer is from erosion of the gastroduodenal artery. This frequently clots off on its own but often the clot dissolves and bleeding restarts. Gastroscopy can define the lesion and it may be treated by local fulguration. Otherwise by arteriography a clot can be placed in the artery. If these methods don't work, surgical resection or vagotomy pylorplasty needed. ...Read more

Interesting: That is an unusual situation. The belly button can accumulate debris/sweat and may have developed an irritation. There are some oily glands there. Clean well with mild soap/water. If redness apply a little bit of neosporin with a qtip. if not better in AM or worsens rapidly see MD to make sure not an infection. Seems to be pain.: Sometimes we can't find a specific diagnosis other than pain. If you have been seen at two medical centers I am not sure you will find a better diagnosis on line. This sounds as though it is neuropathic pain. When will they move on to treatment? ...Read more
