Burning Knee Pain When Kneeling
I am 42, no history of knee injury. Recently I get a burning sensation just beneath my knee cap when kneeling. No knee pain otherwise. Any ideas?
Early wear and tear: Pain coud be due to irritated/early wear of the patella cartilage or the surface cartilage of the thigh bone that rubs against the patella (try knee sleeve with a cutout for knee cap). Other causes could include patellar tendonitis (try knee strap) or a plica and osgood schlatters. For starters avoid kneeling, stairs, knee extension machines, deep squats, lunges etc. Try therapy, ice, advil/alleve. ...Read more

Chondromalacia: Very likely this represents roughened/damaged cartilage behind the kneecap termed patellar chondromalacia. 1st line treatment can include quadriceps, gluteal and hamstring strengthening; it band stretching and a knee brace that stabilizes the kneecap. Many other treatment options exist based on age, severity, activity level, etc. ...Read more
What can b causing lower right ab lower right back below the waist and inner knee pain wi t h burning?
Sciatica: Pain in the distribution as you suggested describes the pattern of the nerve that travels in the leg called the sciatic nerve. Knee pain: Knee pain can be from several sources. In someone doing heavy squats, conditions like patellar or quadriceps tendonitis is common. This would show up as front of the knee pain. If your pain is on the side of the knee and associated with locking or catching, might be a meniscal tear. Recommend evaluation by ortho surgeon if symptoms persist ...Read more
Burning knee.: The knee is the largest joint on the body and although it seems like it is very simple, it is a complex joint. The tissue around the joint includes bone, cartilage, tendons and ligaments. Damage to any of these tissues can cause burning pain. A typical example is damage to the cartilage under the knee cap (patella). This is called chondromalacia and can cause burning in the front of the knee. ...Read more
I have an ortho appointment to look at my knee. Pain 7-9, no medication relief, burning and numbness. They have my x-rays, nothing has been broken what should I expect as a pt. On my first visit?
There are a number of reasons as to why you may be having knee pain. The orthopedic surgeon will need to have a detailed history followed by a physical examination, which will shed light as to possible causes of your pain. If they deem it necessary they may refer you to physical therapy or consider further imaging with an mri.

31yoF. On and off hip/leg/knee pain for 6 mths. Had baby 1 year ago. Lately the pain seems to be burning. Dr says it muscular. Worried about cancer.?
Sciatica: 30's now 1 year post-partum describes chronic unilateral sciatica w. burning pain "hip, leg, knee" & concerned for "cancer". Cancer does not cause pain until far advanced & already identified. Most likely related to pelvic girdle joint injury incurred during birth process. I have seen this occur to several women given epidurals; unable splint & guard anesthetized pelvis from mechanical injury. ...Read more

Right acute knee pain, burning and bruise- like feeling. Whole kneecap is worse, along its bottom. Stairs are very difficult to use, and it hurts any time I walk. Had a negative x- ray.
Patellofemoral pain?: Based on your description of the problem, your young age, and a negative x-ray, I'm suspicious that your pain may be patellofemoral in nature. If this is the case, exercises to strengthen the quadriceps can be very helpful. An elastic knee brace may also help. Since the symptoms are acute, it is possible that you have a torn tendon or ligament. Ultrasound or MRI can be very helpful. ...Read more

Both knee pain since 1.5 yr. MRI OK. Now left hand elbow and finger joints burning. RA factor8.6IU/ml. ESR/RPR/ASO/CRP/uric acid normal. Possible reasons?
Unclear polyarthriti: The RF (Rheumatoid factor) assay -which is, I assume the "RA factor"- varies widely from lab to lab, so I am not sure if 8.6 IU/mL is in the reference range or not (the lab should give both the result and the ref range). It's best to talk to a rheumatologist about your symptoms. It sounds complex. There are forms of arthritis which don't show up on blood tests (seronegative); you may have 1 of tho ...Read more
Burning pain: There could be several causes and joint specialist may have different opinion, but burning pain is often nerve irritation, sometimes compression by a cyst or problem with the tissues from or near the knee, irritating the nerve in that area. Sometimes when I bend my knee far enough or kneel on it, one location on my knee cap feels like it is burning. Is there anything I can do?
Likely bursitis: Sounds like inflammation of the prepatellar bursa (flattened sac that provides protective layer between knee and skin). Usually a result of prolonged kneeling or other "wear-and-tear". Rest (avoid kneeling) and sometimes a knee wrap for protection is helpful. If no contraindications, can use nsaids for inflammation. See a physician for an exam to be sure. ...Read more

Whenever I put pressure on my knee when kneeling I get burning sensation on he side of knee. No other pain. Only when kneeling does it happen?
Knee: Since the discomfort is not on the center of the knee where the direct pressure is, it may be stretching of ligament or tendon causing the burning sensation. This is different from tendonitis or inflammation of the kneecap itself or cartilage disease. Apparently you're not having enough symptoms or limitations at this time to warrant a consultation from an orthopedic specialist. ...Read more

I have a burning, stinging severe pain on the outside of my left knee when kneeling...even when climbing onto my soft mattress.
Could be inflammation of distal iliotibial band, could be knee arthritis or meniscal tear.
I would start with NSAID treatment, barring no contraindications (ulcer, kidney disease).
I would at least obtain an X ray of the knee and trial of physical therapy.
You can seek interventional pain medicine, and seek injections.
If symptoms don't resolve, then you should get an MRI.

Knee pain when bent and when kneeling. Knee pops several time/day but if big pop feels better. I am 30. Arthritis or something else?
Varies: There are many potential causes. One of the more common is having a small meniscus tear. The posterior horn of the medial meniscus is the most common area involved and pain is usually worse as the knee is bent and the tear is often associated with clicking and popping. Does not require an injury. Consider being seen and getting an MRI for a specific diagnosis. ...Read more
