Looks like allergy: appears you saw your md and got antibiotics. It is typically too long for a pure infection. Significant burning midway between sternum & naval, radiating into mid-back. Took 4 Tums (calcium carbonate) extrastrength. What else can I take, esp for back pain?

Probably esophagus: Description is more for reflux of stomach content/acid into esophagus. Sudden onset burning sensation right under sternum. I was cleaning dishes when it started, I ate about 2 hours ago, pain goes away upon sitting still?
Couple of things: This could be from pulling a muscle in between your ribs or it may be reflux disease due to what you ate for lunch. Try Tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen and see if it goes away. If it is reflux it will happen again and then you can seek advice on treatment. If you experience shortness of breath you may need to be seen at the ER. ...Read more
