Burning In Heel Of Foot
A few things: It could be due to plantar fasciitis, an injury, overuse, worn out shoes, tarsal tunnel syndrome (think carpal tunnel but at the ankle level instead of wrist), arthritis, peripheral neuropathy due to radiculopathy (spinal nerve issues) or medical reasons (such as diabetes, thyroid or circulatory issues). See a doctor to have all this sorted out for you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Wear and Tear.: Treating pain, especially in the foot, is always so much easier when the patient can actually put their finger tip on the exact spot of the pain. When the pain descriptions include "in the area of", then solving the problem needs more focus. A hands on exam would probably reveal a generalized arch pain consistent with the beginning of arthritis, ligament strain and tendonitis. Try supportive shoes ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Heel spur on back of foot &below back of foot. Achilles tendinitis visible bump on the side opposite of the ankle. Been years. Pains unbearable. Help?
Sick Achilles.: Your comments sound like the findings of a previous x-ray exam. I'm not sure what is meant by "bump on the opposite side of the ankle". If it is in the Achilles tendon, then extreme pain, could make sense. It sounds as though there is something amiss with your Achilles tendon. It would make sense to immobilize the ankle, and begin non-weight bearing until tendon imaging studies can be performed ...Read more
