Depends: This can be a systemic disease process (neuropathy, hiv) affecting multiple nerves at once. Carpal tunnel affect the hand specifically, not the arm. Depends: If these symptoms were there prior or even after your back surgery, you should see your back surgeon and consult. These are obvious nerve symptoms and despite your back symptoms may be resolved, more distal symptoms may persist. Sounds like a nerve: Issue, ie, spine lesion in the lower back. The areas you have problems with are from L1 level down to l5-s1. So get checked by pcp and possible referral to a spine doc /orthopod. You probably have arthritis (spondylitis) with some disc lesions. Avoid bending, lifting heavy weight, including grand kids. Do regular exercises within limits of discomfort. Numbness normal MRI: The fact that MRI/EMG is normal is good news.Did they check thyroid? glucose? sed rate,ANA(autoimmune issues)? lyme titer? Could be reflux or H pylori, low iron Vit D, B12 , magnesium, potassium calcium, supplement if low. Check diet: Vegetarian(vit deficiency)?Do you have discomfort with eating(, may be malabsorping)?.
