If gastric, yes,: Omeprazole should help with heartburn rather quickly. Heart disease in women sometimes manifests with symptoms very suggestive of heartburn. Although unlikely due to timing of your symptoms, in order to rule it out, consider the following: if omeprazole does not help, then ask your doctor for a full cardiac evaluation. ...Read more

Pain down left side, ribs and back. Burping a lot. Some burning feeling in middle of chest. Tiny black specks in stools is it excessive gas?

Melenic specks?: Dark-colored stools may result from iron supplements, foods you eat (like a lot of spinach), substances (like peptobismol), but most significantly suggests bleeding. When blood is denatured by acid in your stomach, as from ulcers, stools will turn tarry ("melena"). Blood may also be ingested from nose bleeds, bleeding gums. Persistent melena with your dyspeptic symptoms however warrants md visit. ...Read more

Burning chest pain: Chest pain can be a symptom from the lungs like pneumonia or asthma or from the esophagus like from acid reflux. It's also possible to be related to a heart condition. Sometimes abdominal pain can be "referred" pain from the lower lobes of the lungs. Chest x-ray could be a useful tool for evaluation. Good idea to see your doctor. ...Read more

For the past week, my chest has been hurting consistently. There's numbness in my left arm, sharp pains, a burning feeling, and stiffness. Any idea?

Possible disc injury: Being 21 years old makes it unlikely that this pain is cardiac in nature. More likely you have a disc injury in your neck which is causing this issue. A c6-7 disc injury frequently causes chest (pectoralis) pain which can radiate into the tricep and arm. It can also cause numbness/tingling down the arm to the index and middle finger. I recommend you see a spine specialist. ...Read more

Hi when I lay on my left side I start to cough mucus and I have a stinging burning feeling when I've coughed. Chest X-ray clear too??

Possible acid reflux: This sounds like an episode of acid reflux causing coughing. The most common cause of chronic cough can be due to asthma, Post nasal dripping (feels like fluid running behind your throat), or acid reflux. For reflux you could try to not eat a couple hours before bedtime (1-2 hours), try sleeping with slight incline (use a couple of pillows) or you could use some over the counter anti acid tablets ...Read more

I was wondering can h pylori cause a burning feeling in middle back on the left side or is this something else it burns on left side chest and stomach?

Helicobacter pylori: H. Pylori by itself does not cause any pain. It can make it more likely to develop an ulcer, however, and certainly an ulcer, if present, could produce the kind of pain you're talking about. I would start by taking ranitidine 150 mg twice a day while awaiting an appointment at your doctor for further evaluation. Good luck. ...Read more

The: The symptoms you describe are typical of a heart attack or inflammation around the heart (pericarditis) - they can also be caused by anxiety and hyperventilation. So yes, it could be serious. Key items for revealing if there is a heart problem would be an electrocardiogram (ekg) and blood tests, perhaps an echocardiogram (looking at the heart and pericardium with sound waves). If your doctor has done the tests described, check with him again to see what else could be causing the problem. If not, it could be best to seek another opinion. ...Read more

Had squeezing pain on left side of chest. Been feeling burning in same area. Had echo, ekg, stress and chest xray last week all normal. Cardiac?

Less likely: We would need more information-location of pain, its nature, association with activity, your age, risk factors for heart disease-Diabetes/HTN/Chol/smoking/family history etc in order to tease out your chest pain better.
If its exertional substernal squeezing type of pain relieved with nitroglycerin or rest, it could be related to ischemic heart disease. In that case, you may want a stress test. ...Read more
