Maybe: Anybody who has a urinary tract (kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra, +/- penis) can have a urinary tract infection. This happens to people every day, all over the world. A teen male is much less likely than a teen girl to get a UTI. So, a teen male with possible UTI symptoms needs to see his doctor. Classically, : Classically, the symptoms of a urinary tract infection involve burning with urination, needing to go frequently and feeling an "urgency" when you have to go. That being said, this is the most common presentation, but everyone is different and not everyone will have the same symptoms. Also, if you just started having symptoms, the burning is usually the first symptom to appear. Your best bet is to be seen by your doctor. They will be able to test your urine to see if you have an infection. If you do not have a urinary tract infection, they may be able to tell what else is going on to cause your discomfort. Urinary infection ?: I recommend getting your urine checked at your clinic. It is likely that you have an urinary tract infection or possibly worse, a kidney infection, since your flanks hurt. Get urine rechecked: With trace blood in urine, would make sure that a microscopic analysis was done to prove that there was truly blood in the urine as dipstick testing can produce false positives at times. If micro exam not done, repeat urinalysis with this.
