Several possibilitys: One is a myofascial (soft tissue problem) often due to overuse and/or stress. Another possibility is "notalgia paresthetica" in which a sensory branch of a thoracic nerve root is irritated causing the symptoms. When : When the spinal cord appears more white on t2 sequence MRI this is called abnormal signal change.
