What amylase level is too high for female? What can be problems if also high BUN/Creatinine ratio, high anion gap, and high direct bilirubin?

What amylase level is too high for female? What can be problems if also high BUN/Creatinine ratio, high anion gap, and high direct bilirubin?

Why do you ask?: Amylase kay be very high without being a problem because of a harmless variant called macroamylasemia. The ratio is useful only to explain other abnormals is obvious disease. Same is basically true if the gap. If you feel well, slightly high direct bilirubin may be meds or a minir metabolic glitch. Your physician is your best guide. ...Read more

My 3 year old son has poor (weight) growth. He has high platelet count, very high sed rate, very high bun/creatinine ratio, high bun and very high iga?

I'm not sure what's: Causing ur son's condition but my best guess is there's some form of bone marrow and immune deficiency causing his symptoms. I presume he has been worked up by a hematologist. I recently had some blood work done which showed my bun/creatinine ratio was high. Is this bad?

I recently had some blood work done which showed my bun/creatinine ratio was high. Is this bad?

Decrease in flow.: Bun=blood urea nitrogen, byproduct of proteins ingested, if rise to high levels due to kidney problem, can cause toxic affects on the body. Creatinine= measurement of renal function. Normal bun/cr ratio about 10. The higher that ratio, the more likely it is not intrinsic kidney disease per se, but reduction in blood flow or volume to kidney, like when on strong diuretic-prerenal-reversible. ...Read more

My lab results were normal for bun and creatinine however bun/creatinine ratio was high?

Possibly Dehydration: Thank goodness, your kidney function is normal. But any increase bun/creatinine ratio, typically > 20 could mean that you are dehydrated. ...Read more

I had a partial nephrectomy in 2008. My lab results were normal for bun and creatinine however bun/creatinine ratio was high (25). Should I be concern?

No: Many times the ratio is high but relative to the individual values a low normal creatinine and a high normal BUN will show an abnormal ration but would be normal individual numbers. The benefit ais thta it makes one look at the numbers more carefully but is not used for a diagnosis. ...Read more

Not enough info: Unfortunately, other than bloodwork results, no more information is provided. That's not enough to tell what's going on. Either try to provide more info or better off consult with a physician locally. ...Read more

My potassium is high but i'm not dehydrated. Bun/creatinine ratio is high and other electrolytes are borderline. What could be wrong?

May be...: The depicted scenario leads one to think: kidney damage, drug misuse / side effects, internal bleeding to gi-tract, etc. If no dehydration. So, ask and check with doctor for detail and he/she can help you. ...Read more

Bun/creatinine ratio is very high in kidney infections?

Generally no: An elevated bun/creatinine ratio (>20) is usually suggestive of "dehydration" and improves with increased fluids. Unless the patient with a kidney infection is also fluid depleted (due to vomiting or diminished fluid intake), the bun/creatinine is not excessively elevated in this setting. ...Read more

My blood urea is 26 mg/dl and my creatinine is 1.1 (12hrs fasting). I am 49yr old healthy male. My bun:creatinine ratio appears to be high.Clarify.?

Dehydration?: Your creatinine is normal, the slight elevation in BUN may be due to dehydration associated with fasting. Ask you doctor for an estimated glomerular filtration rate, and discuss repeating the test after adequate hydration. ...Read more
