Clear bumps under tongue (harmless so I've been told) and a mild sore throat. Some to be concerned about?
Can have Dr. Check: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can help decrease throat pain.

My friend has several abnormally large bumps on the back of her tongue, no pain, sore throat, and sniffles. What could it be?
Probably normal: Likely normal. If you're worried, see an oral surgeon for examinationSee 3 more doctor answers
Sore throat with bumps on the back of the tongue, they bother me a little. Anything I can do to fix this or make it feel better?
Anatomy of tongue: Those bumps were almost certainly always there- you just probably never looked that closely before. The anatomy of the tongue is rather complex after all. If you are having a sore throat - it's more likely the back part of your throat that is irritated (posterior pharynx). Look for redness or pus spots - if you have that with a fever, you'll need to see a doc to make sure you don't have Strep. TC
ENT: See your ENT doctor as soon as you can to be sure it is not strep throat; can be very serious if left untreated. See your ent.
Several issues: The white tongue could be from a coating that can be removed with better oral hygiene and a tongue scraper....Or lichen planus, thrush or something else. The bumps may be the normal papillae of the tongue. A sore throat is not normal. I suggest that you consult with an oral surgeon or your physician for a personal evaluation to see exactly what is going on and treatment if indicated.See 2 more doctor answers
Every time I eat something little tiny painful white bumps appear on my tongue - I've also had a very sore throat for over 2 weeks. Very concerned?
Tongue problem: . This could be a fungal infection, but you should check 1st with your physician. Also, maybe you are eating spicy food and stop eating spicy food and start multivitamins like Centrum and vitamin C and eat healthy and that should most likely go away, but you need to be started maybe on an antifungal agent.
Virus: All about the virus/cold you have. Give it several days to resolve....7-14 days...You'll see, you will get better.
I have a sore throat and I have a cough and I have these bid bumps all over my tongue can you tell me what's wrong?
I have had a cold complete with sore throat. I have big bumps on the back of my tongue with white stuff on my tongue. Is this normal for a cold?
It can be: The big bumps on the back of your tongue are probably your taste buds. It's not uncommon for the tongue to become coated with a cold, because your immune system is under attack and this gives the bacteria on the tongue a free pass to multiply and grow. You can just brush the surface of your tongue every day and that will help eliminate the coating.See 1 more doctor answer
I have been having a sore throat for a couple of days. I have three large bumps on either side of my tongue. I also feel like my tongue is swollen?
See Your Physician: Sounds like a viral sore throat.Get a more detailed answer ›
Viral likely: Most likely this is a viral throat infection which usually runs its course in several days without specific treatment except gargling with warm salt water. The tongue bumps are probably reactive glands. If symptoms worsen instead of gradually improving, see your physician for evaluation and a rapid throat culture to check for strep which is treated with antibiotics.
Felt ill. Chills and bad sore throat. Maybe a cold? Same today. Noticed small discoloration on tongue on side (no black) and bump near back. CANCER?
NO….: BUMPS are:Taste buds most likely. Cold and Sore throat: URI, gargle with salt and warm water, try "Advil cold and sinus" medicine for symptomatic relief and Ginger tea/Steam Inhalation for other home remedies. Viral vs bacterial: Difficult to say what may be occurring without examining you, checking your vital signs and if needed, a throat culture. These findings may be due to a viral syndrome or a bacterial infection.
